Forums - Sales - A look at Seasonality So Far in 2010 vs. 2009 vs. 2008

Kinect is selling very well, but the bundles with X360 are not, so far, and at least relatively speaking. I was just at a Walmart to buy a jacket and some Wii games (by some, I mean eight!) and the clerk said they have no issue selling out the Kinect sensors (none in the stores), but there are 8 Kinect X360 hardware skus available for purchase and he made it sound like most of them had been there since launch (Nov 4 - two weeks ago) as the store has only needed one re-allocation of the hw bundles since Kinect launched.

Finally, I've been waiting for a good time to say this.

Personal experience means nothing, just cause it isn't selling there doesn't mean it isn't selling great other places.

Although I do agree Kinect 360 bundles aren't selling.

Mmm now that the Wii has 3 bundles for Xmas, it looks like it's gonna rebound a bit

This is what we have so far from the last week of August to the week ending Dec 11 2010:

Wii has a real shot at getting to 1.7m or more again for a week or two in 2010. Pretty similar to last year despite a far weaker Sept-Oct.

The rise for Wii is just absurd! It's amazing what Nintendo can do in the holidays. I thought it would be down much over last year, looks like it's going to be down only a small amount now.

I wonder if Wii will have a 2 million selling week this year?

If you look back Wii has needed a ton of software to get it back to stratospheric levels.

October:

Wii Party (West), Kirby's Epic Yarn (Americas/Japan), Just Dance 2 (West), Mario Collection (Japan)

November:

Goldeneye (West), Black Ops (West), Udraw (Americas), Sonic Colors (WW), DKC: Returns (Americas), Michael Jackson (West), Mario Sports Mix (Japan), Zumba Fitness (West), Epic Mickey (West), the Red Wii / NSMB Red Wii bundles helped, as did the Wii Fit Plus bundle and Mario Kart bundle in Europe.

December:

Retailer price cuts and seasonality doing their things.
