Forums - Nintendo - Goldeneye Wii a success says Nintendo.

Americas are up, and barring adjustments, the game is still holding at 45K. We'll see how the next weeks hold up, but that's still looking good.

Also, Black Ops opened well, nearly twice as well as MWR. That game had the lowest Americas opening for a CoD Wii game (38K compared to 51K for 3, 44K for WaW, and 65K for Black Ops), and as we all know, still went platinum.

Good thing Nintendo let us all know that it's a success because Activision hasn't said much of anything since it launched.

Well they don't tend to talk about success or failure of their fanchises much at all. CoD is one of the exceptions.

They say this and then we will be waiting another year for a title like this. This did have the goldeneye name on it. It might as well said mario fps. I do not think this game was a good gauge on how well 3rd party software does on the wii.

Show me a new game that has no attachments to something previously successful and then I might listen to this stuff.

Fact is, the wii has a very small amount of decent 3rd party games and they have been out for how many years? That is unbelievable considering their success and home install numbers.

This is also typical for the product. How many of us have a bunch of wii motion pluses at home with no more than two games that use them? I am one who very early on was very excited for the software to start flowing from nintendo and this just never happened.

I'm still waiting for all these great 3rd party titles your talking about Nintendo.

Take away established third paty IP from the Wii, and you have to do the same for all other platforms to make a fair comparison.

Goldeneye is an excellent gauge for how well third parties can sell on Wii. RE4 and monster hunter tri are some more.

I LOVE ICELAND!

There will always be exceptions to what is widely accepted as the norm on a given platform.

Facts are, Nintendo games sell the best on their own platform, almost always with good reason.

I don't think lowering the bar for expectations for 3rd party game sales on the Wii due to well established trends particularly helps either.

I think the game its doing good on the sales front. You cannot expect the console with the smallest FPS audience (since it has few of those games and the other consoles have a lot and very good ones) to sell millions of copies in just a few weeks.

This game its proving that you can have very good sales if you put some effort. And if you take into account that the development budget its small compared to a HD console you can make a very good profit. It may not sell millions and millions on the first week, but they cannot say "its a dissapointment" or "third party games don't sell on the console" as some developers/publishers like to do.

EMAA has a very small third week drop. Fingers crossed.
