Dsister, go back and look at the sales of the games you listed.

Just draw up a comparison real quick, will take no time at all.

Blue Dragon:
 200K
>20% attach ratio

Idol M@ster:
80K
Released in 07. =10% attach ratio at the time?

Lost Odyssey:
100K
10% of current attach ratio(even though released in 2008)

Eternal Sonata:
See Idol M@ster

Enchanted Arms: <--- Just plain Flopped :P
20K in japan in 07.

Deathsmiles:
45K great for a Schmup

Furthermore I don't see what you are getting at. This isn't a question of sales it's a question of having games that match Japanese taste. Which the 360 certainly does

Your point?

Sales of those games might, just *might*, have something to do with how much appeal they have in Japan overall

Maybe

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Exactly! Thank you Mr. Khan! What other area has games constantly at about 10% attach ratio?

Edit: To my original post: How could I forget Culdcept Saga, Operation Darkness, Sprectral Force 3, or Zoids Assault?

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I didn't really notice the whole console war thing as much back then, some of my friends has N64 and some had a Playstation. We didn't care though and rarely discussed anything regarding them, we simply enjoyed the games both had to offer (I owned both, by the way). I think the primary reason why I didn't see much of the "war" is the fact that internet was still pretty much in its infancy as far as discussion boards and forums go and all gaming related things were reported mostly through magazines.

I apologize if I sound terse. I do not mean to be.

The problem is that those games did not drive hardware sales enough to matter. Their attach rates do not tell the story. Their sales are an indication of their appeal, not just their appeal in the context of the hardware.

The software did not appeal, is the problem. Not enough.

No, you didn't sound terse. Whenever I read a reply I read it as if the person is typing in my mood.  And as such I am pretty laid back and relaxed right now ^_^. I just wasn't sure if you were going off topic or not and wanted to keep it from continuing.

And what about games like Ikaruga, Star Ocean, FF, Monster Hunter, Dead or Alive, and Phantasy Star? Are you saying these games don't have appeal to Japanese gamers?

Some of the games I listed I heard were really hyped in Japan and if I recall did move quite a few consoles. Saying that MS doesn't have many games that appeal to Japanese gamers is just plain wrong...

Remember back in the day when it was PS1 VS N64? It was just like, who has better games I'll pick their side.

Now you have companies buying timed exclusive dlc, excessive bindling, the race for motion tech, racism (People who wont buy 360 because it's built american), blue ray, and the race for net flix, dis shits crazzzy! Let's all take a moment to ease the console wars by saying something nice about the console you think should be below your favorite console. I think the size and reliability of the wii is nice....now it's your turn!

I remember console wars during the Atari/Intellivision/Coleco days.  Oh, and there is a "Buy American" mentality in the U.S. so this "racism" in NOTHING new.

Don't forget Ace Combat 6 360 exclusive.  That relatively moved a few consoles.

After checking the sales it never really seems it never was the biggest series in Japan. Much larger in the US

Edit: But yeah. It could have certainly moved some consoles

Yes, because people were not hiding behind keyboards and actually established relations with other real people by console gaming together.

I could be mistaken, but I thought I had recalled a spike in sales when the game came out in Japan.
