@Khuutra As for "regular content", I doubt that would be an issue. I have a GameFly account, so I would have the ability to review many many title, not to mention that on average I purchase around 100 titles. Currently own 34 PS3 titles, 37 Wii titles and 16 XBox 360 titles. I would have a review at least once a week, if not more. |
well you live in new york, vgchartz were looking for people a while back who liive in the big cities to report/interview on gaming things you have to start somewhere but obviously you have to keep earning so its hard to juggle everything i guess if you haven't got enough spare time

I live ~30-45 minutes from Manhattan, so it all depends on where they would have needed me to go.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
Well one thing a few people have done is become popular over Youtube. Now, mainly most of the people are CoD commentators, but there are a few who grew in popularity and got jobs at Machinima where they pretty much get paid to play video games and write reviews. They got to move into LA with housing and everything provided. Granted, it takes a lot of patience and a lot of time, but if you're dedicated enough then you could get somewhere. But by reading your posts you favor RPGs and such more... so maybe you could start a gaming channel on youtube that focuses on different genres? Plenty of people have become popular and got video game related jobs off of Youtube.
Just a thought.
Yeah school is a good option dude im currently in school for game programming (though im only using programming as a means to enter) and its going good so far. You could always get some book and read about the certain field you would like to practice in the industry and then do a couple of projects with the knowledge you gain, which could then turn into a portion of your resumes. theres alot of ways to enter to IMO though school will probably give you the biggest boost.

There are a few schools. I think one of them is an online school too.
School is the best option besides making a blog and a youtube channel. A high gpa/internship is always the obviously easy way to getting into the industry. Don't bother with the online schools/"gamers schools", theres plenty of articles out there from industry experts who say their value of their degree's are a joke. Schools like ITT Tech; no one cares/credits will not transfer. If you live in NYC, I say go to a SUNY. I for one, am in Stony Brook. I'll be getting my Masters in Computer Science, and off into the industry I go! It's the only safe way, if you want to design in any field (with your minor in whatever you prefer, art, journalism, etc).
All of this, of course, is just my opinion.
Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
