If Move catches on more and there ends up being more money for development, Sports Champions will get addon content in the form of additional sports. Mini-gold would be great, as would bowling, or even some various track or olympic sports.

They have started by adding characters, but that is not good enough. However I do look forward to DLC that would add modes like Bowling and Home Run derby.

Let us hope this becomes a reality. It would make Sports Champions greater than it already is.

Last I heard (from an adamant source), new game modes were already being discussed, as was online play (at least for disk golf and bocce ball).

Its been a few weeks since I've heard anything, but I wouldn't be suprised it right before the holidays rolled around, Sports Champions received some sort of update patch.

Wii Sports Resort is pretty deep actually, theirs even an 'acheivment system'

Wii Sports Resort comes with a Motion Plus.

It has 12 sports, and some of them have 2 or 3 completely different modes to play.  For example, you can do one on one kendo, compete by slicing fruits in the air, or play a single player game where you fight off an army of Miis in some caves.  You can play frisbee, golf, or frisbee golf, or explore the whole island in an airplane.

I highly recommend it.  Having played Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Deca Sports 1, 2, and 3, both Mario & Sonic Olympics games, and Sports Champions, I'd say Wii Sports Resort is the greatest motion sports game out there.  Tons of replay value, and yes, there are even achievements in a first party Nintendo game.

The Wave Race style sport game in Resort alone makes it worth a purchase

Oh so that's why your impressions were how they were, most people like me were like yeah Sports Champions is a decent little title but it's not replacing Wii Sports Resort lol

Not exactly sure what you call deep, cause I don't find getting medals in Sports Champions deep, since the goal of playing the sports in the Wii sports series is getting things like the pro status and getting higher rankings and the game getting progressively harder, main attraction being playing with others which is what it should be.

Not exactly sure how many matches it takes to get to pro level for every sport in the Wii Sports series but it's all set at 1000 points and it varies on your own skill how long it takes to get there if you keep playing perfect matches you're rewarded with more points than you would be if you gave your opponent some points. And it still continues after the pro status and you can lose points/pro status.

Wii Sports had 5 sports all with various modes to play, in training, and in multiplayer.  One of my favorite modes from the original was the home run contest. Sports resort you have 12 sports with different modes and my favorite in Resort it's the sword fighting mode where you take down hoards of enemies.

The Wii sports series lacks unlocking characters for the use of any Mii you make so you have full character customization and is part of the reason the series became so iconic, Colbert made a Mii of himself and he was boxing with Miis based on other characters, and there are youtube vids of Jesus beating up Satan just brilliant stuff.

So yeah I really don't know what you define as deep cause gameplay of both I consider easy to get into and fun to play but far from deep since they use the simple and clean formula, while on content they both do the same thing, play, get progressively harder, meet the end of an ultimate goal, and have variations on every sport.

This may be long, but please bear with me

To be fair with wsr it came out earlier and therefore sports champions should have had a chance to be a more improved experience since it also has a camera which helps for deph, but that doesnt mean wsr is any bad at all. (what I dont like about champions are the mainly the characters)

WSR may seem very shallow if you just give it a try. (I´ve personally spent over 50 hours on it) There are some types of stamps (I dont know how to call them) you get by beating certain objectives in each sport (that is to me one of the most rewarding things in the game at least in the single player mode and some are very hard to get). There are usually 5 stamps to get per sport.

Also, in most sports you get medals depending on how many points you´ve earned (for example getting over 2000 poinst in speed slice gets you a gold medal which you can see showing next to the points in the lower part of the screen just before you press A to start the sport)

Another thing to take into acount is that wsr is a game aimed mainly at casuals, and therefore when you start the game and are on a low level (it starts getting more difficult over the 500 points mark) the game may seem too easy and some people may think the game beats itself.

That is speacially noticeable in table tennis where if you just wagle the remote (though it tracks the wagle very well), it will automatically make the hit when the ball is near, but as I said, if you work to get 1500 plus points the waggling wont have the same effect. Also if you want and try to play it realistically you can give great spin to your game and it is very different from just wagling

On the other hand wagling does NOT work for most of the games. Speacially in the greatly improved bowling and golf games. Even though you dont have a camera to help in wsr, those two games feel just right. Ver very precise. And are the ones I´ve spent most time on. Also air sports, basketball, sword play (speed slice needs a special mention, I´d advice you to get over 2000 points on that one), archery and disc gold are pleasent surprises (at least to me). Of these, disc gold (though precise and fun) lacks in comparison to its tiger woods pga tour 10 counter part because you have the whole mii body interfering when you move the controller up whereas in pga tour 10 you just have a hand which improves the immersion (and I´d advice you to try PGA 10´s disc gold if you really want to see how precise motionplus can be).

Then there are some sports that are not so good and feel a bit awkward (though I´m sure there are people that like them) like cycling (speacially this one), canoeing (precise but boring), wakeboarding, and power cruising.

Overall it is a very good game and I think it deserves the 80 metascore so it is up to you whether you get it or not, but if you do I hope you enjoy it ;)

I think the main reason why sports champions did not beat wsr´s meta score was because it came out a bit over a year after wsr and some critics may think is wasnt anything that hadnt been done before (even though it is more precise). But champions is also a great game and definitely worth playing.

I hope I helped. and thanks for your attention :)

I want to play Mario and Sonic as well.

To me Wii Sports was very shallow, basically demos, but that is what is was aimed to be. Having not played Wii Sports Resort the gameplay and progression felt much better to me in Sports Champions. I actually have incentive to go back and play, plus some of those gold matches are hard. Would be nice if it had online though.

I know it is like that in WiiSports, but I find it very easy to get to pro status (1000 points). Once I got there, which was pretty quickly, I felt no reason to keep playing, unless I was playing multiplayer bowling or swing at a few pitches.

Wii Sports had 5 sports all with various modes to play, in training, and in multiplayer.  One of my favorite modes from the original was the home run contest. Sports resort you have 12 sports with different modes and my favorite in Resort it's the sword fighting mode where you take down hoards of enemies.

Homerun contest is my favorite too, but I always win by the mercy rule within the first 2 innings. I want a real homerun contest game though, with better precision, like the ability to know if I am swinging too high or too low, reaching out or golfing one low and inside. I am good at swinging the bat, played Baseball since childhood.

Looking forward to MLB 11 The Show. In terms of Baseball sims it is second to none and hitting has always been a bitch, like it should be. They like to put out the best game they can and I hope with the camera the move can allow what I am asking for. The calibration always makes you register where your waist line is, so I think it could work. If Sony ever wanted to really show the Move off, they should make the MLB series truly the King of the Hill, even though it already is.

It would never become too much of a hassle or too tiring since in RTTS you only partake in your created players at-bats each game. My arm would be dead if I had to do 27 at-bats per game. I like only doing 3-4.

You know it would be awesome.

I think the Mii's look stupid. Never cared too much for them.

I guess difficulty reaching the top of the pedestal is why. Wii Sports is very easy and quick to obtain 1000 in all modes for me.

Wii Sports Resort is a must have for Wii , its quite a lot of fun and has lots of replay value, each sports have different types of games , for example the sword fighting has Duel which is 1 vs 1 , a challenge mode where you have to chop objects in a certain way (like ninjas with bamboo trees )  at a given time, and a third game where you fight an undless hordes of Miis in a third person beat em up like game.

its a lot indentical to Sports Champions but if you play them both you will see that they're pretty different, plus they're both good games, so it doesn't hurt to own both if you have both consoles as for if you have one console and not the other, then its not a big reason to buy the other console just to play the other game, since they're very simillar as well.

i can't say about Kinect sports, i still want to play that, but the price of kinect in here $300  i kid you not, its because there isn't many kinects so they're hard to get.

Yes that is true actually, Wii Sports is actually a bunch of demos glued together, however Resort is a full game, it has lots of gameplay modes , unlike Wii Sports which is just a bunch of mini games
