Of all the things mentioned in this article, Mark Wahlberg as the star is the LEAST worrisome thing.
What is reported here leads me to believe that they are going to butcher this IP by "hollywood-izing" it. Which in gamer terms = they are going to screw up another video game to movie translation.
I'd take Walhberg as Drake in a heartbeat if they guaranteed me they stick to the characters and scenarios as crafted by Naughty Dog, vs trying to change things for a different market, regardless of lead actor.

I agree with this, I can deal with Mark Wahlberg as the lead, if they stuck to the video game script and set peices. But when they said "the game didnt have much there besides the concept and the name", I raged. The game storyline is perfectly made for a big time movie.
Its just like comic book movies, Hollywood writers think they can improve on anything, despite being far worse writers than the original creators.
Also, being that this is Sony owned material, the Uncharted IP and everything within, would Sony have the final say on something like this? Because maybe the disaster could be avoided after all.

Robert DeNiro as Sully isnt too shabby. |
It sucks Nathan didn't get the role. Well I guess they lost my money.

One can only hope. Sony pictures didn't save the Resident Evil movies though
If only the guy that does the voice for Nathan Drake looked more like him. That would be the perfect casting.
Otherwise I'm a huge fan of Nathan Fillion for the role. He was fantastic in firefly, I watched that even thinking he would make a great Drake with his wit and comedic timings. Shame he doesn't have more star power for hollywood to consider him leading a potential blockbuster trilogy like Uncharted.

Well that was Capcom's fault though, the first one wasnt bad, but they progressively got worse after that
