Weakest of the original trilogy but what a great, fun movie. The battle over Endor, with the Executor? Maybe the best space battle of all time.

Basically my thoughts on it... Ewoks were a drag.

Also, what was the point of the last battle?  I mean, Luke SEEEMED to have won by tapping into his rage.

Isn't that the exact antithesis of well... the entire trilogy?  Shouldn't that of meant Luke was going to "fall" to the darkside?

No. Because he would have lost, long-run, if he did that. He saw his future when he cut Vader's hand off and saw a smoking mechanical stub, like his own mechanical arm that came from his lack of discipline, and realized true strength came from rejecting that

He did but as soon as he cut vader's arm, off he saw that it was a "fake arm" which made him realize how similar he and Vader had become in his fit of Rage to protect Leia

Then he followed his heart and defied the great emperor bringing an end to the greatest movie franchise ever!!!

Except jedi are supposed to be emotionless... and not listen to their hearts.

I mean you like the prequels, what made Darth Vader turn evil again?

Love.

They aren't meant to be emotionless.....Jedi are encouraged to have unconditional love towards people (not in the romantic way though)

The reason Anakin turned evil was different.....his nightmare of PAdme dying at childbirth tormented him all day and night. Anakin foresaw the death of Padme just like he foresawe his mom's death....he couldn't let another person die in his life....and Yoda said dreams "can come true".....he had become so desperate to save her that he could do anything to save her.....then his "old friend palpatine" gives him the idea at that concert while watching the big silver ball thingy....

That is when Anakin's conflict began....Obi-Wan had also left to find Grievous by then...so his "master" couldn't be there to sense the great conflict Anakin was under

With Luke, he knew there was conflict within Darth Vader's mind while fighting him.....he knew he was also being turned to the dark side when he saw his father's mechanical hand....he knew history was just repeating itself.....and as Vader said "Obi wan had taught him well".....so he took a gamble...and it paid off as Vader became good just in time.

For Anakin there was no gamble he could take.....he couldn't tell anyone Padme was pregnant, and Padme couldn't tell anyone she was pregnant.

Bravo, sir. Really, viewed with the prequels, that scene becomes all the more powerful, given that Luke basically had to make the same choice. It was the same pivotal moment as when Anakin hesitated before lopping off Windu's hands, but Luke made the right choice

My second favourite SW movie overall and my favourite of the original Trilogy. Ewoks were a bit weird though...
