It's ulterior, and it means "hidden". So, no. He doesn't have any hidden reason for not trusting that MS is providing sold-thru numbers. It is simply the way things are done. When most companies say "sold", they mean "sold to retailers".

The plot thickens... I say we should welcome the opportunity to chat with Mr. Greenberg. It would allow VGChartz to clear up any confusion about its methods, give it some mainstream coverage and possibly earn it some of the respect I feel it deserves. We may also learn a thing or two about MS and their way of handling numbers in the process. If done right it would be beneficial to all parties... except for VGChartz haters. I also wonder if Brett's article has anything to do with Aaron's change of heart.

Well, he's apologized and he's wanting to chat to Brett about our numbers and stuff so...

Respect for the apology. Hopefully too, the new article about how VGC gets the numbers will stop things like this happening in the future.
