It did terrible so far. Course I am using their own expectations of 5 million before January 1st, which seems unreachable. I will know for sure if their goals are a failure when initial hardware sales come in with the 360 console. If it doesn't bump up the 360 sales by a large margin, than failure is innevitable. I am a realist, people try to make Kinect seem better no matter what. At least Sony didn't dig their own grave with their predictions..

Don't get me wrong, shy of 500K is good number, but no where near that of what Minect needed to get to 5 million by the time frame THEY said they will reach. Unless they release great games we don't know about yet, they will fall flat. America is their strong point and sales in Europe will be about 60-70% of what North America does. So lets say they have 700,000 units sold right now. Can say with confidence that by the end of November they will have about 1.5 million units sold. I can see them reaching 3 million with a Holiday boost, but 5 million seems insane. One thing that is proven is that actual interest in Kinect is lower than thought by gaming analysts.

I hate to be the "hater" but the number just don't add up with the trends, even with Black Friday and Christmas coming up. When 360 sales numbers come in, I believe it will show that 80-90% of the people who bought Kinect at launch have a 360 already. So I am predicting the first push will bump 360 sales by 80-140K worldwide. But I wouldn't be shocked if it was around 40-60K either.

I was about to say, fair point, you're allowed your opinion, and it's not easy to predict the next few weeks sales but then I saw this in another thread "As much as I would love that thought as a HUGE PlayStation fan"

It's painfully obvious this is all wishful thinking on your part, and you can hate all you like, I honestly don't think 360 fans here care anymore .. all I'll say is if these estimates are correct (500k 3 days in NA) then that IS very impressive (Terrible? really?) and it'll hit 2 - 2.5 million by the end of November thanks to Black Friday.

I think you're reading in to that statement to much. I am a "huge" PlayStation fan because of their exclusive sector. I wouldn't own any consoles if it wasn't for Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, or Gran Turismo series. These franchises from my childhood have my hopes high, and all I get is let down (from FF anyways, MGS4 was terrific). As far as my 360, yes I own a 360. There is nothing that I am attached to on the 360, not one single game. Bunch of new franchises that I couldn't care less about, and multiplatforms. Games now adays just don't have "it" anymore.

And I am not some blind fanboy, my predictions are off reports, not my "hopes". If it was on my hopes, Move, Kinect, Wii, and the 360 would never exist. Motion gaming in my opinion is stupid, I've said this from the start and my mind isn't changed at all to this point. So I am not going to predict short coming for Kinect because of Sony, as I hate the Move. Both should die a slow and painful death.

Spare me, I don't care why you're a PS fan and I never buy those explanations. It's fine, you're entitled to your opinion as much as anyone else here, just so you know it sounds geared towards your own wishful outcome and you will be proven wrong in the very near future.

We can always laugh at him for buying something he wishes didn't exist. I really have to wonder sometimes...

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I'm really not sure where anyone would get the idea that the Kinect launch wasn't anything but a success.

That borders on reality denial, much like those who said the same thing about the Move launch after the corrected numbers were available.

While I believe there is a pretty fair amount of speculation going on (meaning consumers buying up stock to flip on Ebay at inflated prices), the fact remains that the initial shipments of standalone kits reached close to 100% sell through. Retailers with standing stock are few and far in between.

And for anyone who wants to believe that the 500k number is "poor," retailers can't sell what they don't have in stock. That number is essentially what was available for sale during launch week.

But the more important number is still the number of 360/Kinect bundles sold, which should be reflected in the hardware bump for release week. That will provide better information as to who is buying Kinect: current 360 owners or new 360 owners to include those previously in the Wii demographic, who are presumably the consumers MS has been trying to attract with Kinect.

Good numbers. Although I wonder how much 360's were sold.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Wow! 360 numbers will be huge !

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

475k *estimate* for Kinect sales over 3 days. Then you have bundles on top of that. So overall Kinect units moved over the 3 days = estimated standalones plus hardware bundles of which we have no estimation.

Theres a 60 day period between the launch and the end of the year. Microsoft projects 5M sales and we've topped 10% of their estimated sales in 5% of the alloted time from only one market and with only standalone unit sales.

Obviously the sales of the standalones will be more front loaded compared to bundles because If people are starting to buy a lot of bundles it will still only happen the time of the year when they are actually inclined to buy console units. So as the number of console sales ramp up towards Christmas we will also see the bundle sales start to ramp up towards Christmas.

Hopefully now that Kinect is generating great sales microsoft will announce more hardcore oriented games!!!

Aaron Greenberg had this to say on twitter

"LOL'ing at sales reports from VGChartz, why do people release info as official when there is no source or science behind the #s?"

*Conspiracy theory*

Now the Xbox 360 will be severely undertracked on Vgchartz from now on!

What's Greenberg LOLing? Chartz' method or how the numbers are way too low?

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Just thought I'd check to see if the guy was bullshitting and... No bullshit!

Oh well. Who cares? It's not like Aaron has any hard sales data... He only has shipped data until NPD release there figures. And if we end up with exactly the same data (Within 10%?) as NPD... Then he's gonna look like even more of a dick stain than he already does!
