Forums - Microsoft - Gamestops see ample Kinect Supply

Looks it sold alot of games from that first pic. Every shelf is missing some stand alone units too. Also looked like several bundles had sold. Good thing they have a good stock so they can keep selling more. Although it looks like they are short on kinect games

Thank you, sir.  This the first and probably ONLY reasonable response I'll get.  Against my better judgment, I though some of you would be secure enough in seeing a few Kinects in stock.  It seems I was originally correct in thinking some of you would be too scared.  Yep, I should have spared some of you the grief.  Thanks again, thranx for being level headed.

nice pics.......they only proved how MS is quick to resend new shipments.

That was part of the original shipment.  I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying.  :)

So serious question, what exactly were those photos attempting to illustrate?

Who exactly was scared?  Considering your first post in this thread was you saying your local Gamestop said it wasn't selling well at all it's a perfectly reasonable assumption that your photo was trying to show a relatively full Kinect display as evidence for your first statement.  Just seemed foolish, that's all.

One thing I enjoy about Kinect and Move is that it's a relaunch of the two "hardcore" consoles, which means a relaunch of the console wars, which means a relaunch to drama here on vgc and all over the interwebs, which means I need to launch myself to costco - never restocked on popcorn after the last console wars.

I'm surprised we haven't had an official posting for estimated numbers by IOI or the Source yet.  C'mon guys, give us something we can start comparing with.

I thought Kinect didn't release until tomorrow?(nov 10th).

Kinect release dates:

USA: 11/4

EU: 11/10

AUS: 11/18

JP: 11/20

So it's already out in the USA and will be out in Europe soon. Australia in about another week and Japan shortly after that.

Ok thanx, guess i was mixed up with the EU release date. Anyway can't wait for the first sales estimates to arrive.

I too was visiting my girl's mom and on the way home I bought a jug of cheese balls from Target. They had a bunch of Kinect bundles in stock, but a lot of games were gone. When I got home, my box with Kinect in it arrived in the mail. Guess who won?  Kinect is doomed...

I generally don't think pictures really illustrate how something is selling.

We had someone trying to do that in the Move thread showing pictures of them in stock.  Turns out, it was selling well.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Doesn't the term industry reffer to a leveraging by onside on a retail side. I remember reading that before there was a gaming industry no one wanted to stock video games as toys.

Anyway retailers wont buy something they don't expect to sell, so seeing them in stock is actually a good thing as far as the confidence retailers have in the hardware.

Most gaming retailers if not then all that sell by the reccomended sale price of the hardware don't take out much of a profit from stocking the hardware, it's usually the software that they get more of a profit from.

Unless microsoft came across some insane pool of cash and is paying retailers to stock Kinect.
