Forums - Nintendo - Zak and Wiki 2 if it happens may just sell well

thinking about the rumours that Z&W2 may be on it's way - gotta say no matter how many people bought Z&W I reckon say about 50 to maybe even 80% of people who bought it would get the 2nd listening to peoples thoughts, reviews etc and if they only attracted the same amount of new customers again on top of the repeat then they may just have a million seller Z&W as the install base for the Wii grows.

the way I see it i'd rather have Z&W only selling 300K and all of them loving the game than say Red Steel where it sold 1 million but a high percentage hated it due to the quality, glitches, sword play etc when it comes to building on that to attempt to make the series a hit.

Or am I just talking nonsense to see Wii rose tinted glasses?

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

if there is a zack and wiki 2 i will definitely buy it and i will definitely tell everyone i know about it. sales of the first one was't stellar but it exceeded capcom's expectations so i'm assuming it was at least profitable. with a bit of advertisement and more wii owners a sequel could do really well, maybe even million seller! here's hoping!!

thing is I cannot see it dropping below 10k per week through 08 and as the quality is that good then I reckon at least 8k per week out of that 10k would consider purchasing a sequal.

Yes, perhaps they're actually going to give an advertising budget to the second one.

The game has a reputation for being an underappreciated gem amongst the hardcore market, and I can see the sequel doing substantially better than the original. Especially if they actually try advertising a bit...

Even if the second one doesn't do substantially better, they could always turn Z&W into a downloadable Wii Ware franchise. I think that approach would work very well with games like this.

A sequel is tough to measure. The problem is, many people who didn't play the first will be ostracized by the #2 on the end of the game. However, the strong word of mouth and current fanbase may help it do well.

Huuaaa?
What makes you say that student? It seems to me that sequals to better, that is until the series start to go downhill. I would say that with a 2 on the end the average consumer thinks "well the first was good enough to make a sequal to this must not be bad."

if they make a sequel i think it will sell better because they will advertise it more

a sequel means a price drop for #1, which is what i've been waiting for!

the Wii is an epidemic.

who knows - they may even bundle the two together as Capcom love to re-release their titles and I can see a Zak and Wiki 1 & 2 in aboxed set release sometime, masybe early 09 after 2 has been released.

Either way I have high hopes for this series and hope it'll be a well known IP eventually.
