The game has a reputation for being an underappreciated gem amongst the hardcore market, and I can see the sequel doing substantially better than the original. Especially if they actually try advertising a bit...
Even if the second one doesn't do substantially better, they could always turn Z&W into a downloadable Wii Ware franchise. I think that approach would work very well with games like this.
