I'm not sure how closely you follwed DQ9, but there was a big backlash from Sony fans when it was announced for DS, which led to strong PSP port rumors up until a large amount of media was shown for the game in 2008.

To be fair, it was console fans as well as Sony fans who were vocal with their disappointment, but it was the latter who pushed the PSP thing hard until it was finally debunked.

Either way, history seems to be repeating itself with X.

I was back in University when Dragon Quest 9 was announced and at the time I only had IGN as game source (Though IGN at the time was awesome and not the crap that it is now), I was personally dissapointed cause voice acting and full orchestra score was more important to me than being able to drag my armour from inventory to my character, so I wouldn't be surprised that Sony fans were dissapointed, but I have never heard any rumours of Dragon Quest going to the PSP ever.  And you still havn't shown me proof other than an article that came from an untrusted source and was debunked by the site that posted it.  So I ask again, where are all these rumours that Dragon Quest 9 was going to the PSP?  I heard a lot of rumours of Metal Gear Solid 4 going to the 360, for comparison, but I've seen nothing for Dragon Quest.

You asked for a rumor and you got one. Of course the source is not solid. It's an untrue rumor after all. However, I proved, that at least one source in the internet expected DQ IX on PSP. My work is done.
