Forums - Nintendo - hmmh.. Should i buy a Wii now?

Yes! I say buy the Wii and I am not saying that because its my favorite console ever made but because I think you actually should. I say yes because of the Red Wii...What I mean is that to me you sound like you will eventually buy a Wii in the future anyway you why not get the limited Red Wii while your at it!

One question? Do you like Nintendo's games?

If you answer no , then don't buy it. If you answer yes then its a no brainer.

I mean this year alone their is Kirby , Donkey Kong and GoldenEye all coming to the Wii. You also have a great back catalog to buy. The third party games may be mostly crap but their are a few hidden gems. Lastly you say you don't like Mario's cliche plotline, well do you still like the gameplay. You see Nintendo games aren't about the plots or the online achievements or the other unessesary crap its about the gameplay.

If you don't like Nintendo's first party line-up and you already own a 360 and PS3. Well buddy why buy a Wii so you can buy watered down ports and shovel ware? You can get much better versions of Call Of Duty or Ghost Recon or Resident Evil on the 360PS3. You buy a Wii because you like Nintendo's first party software and yes their is the odd third party gem not availible on PS360!

I didnt. i grew up with Nintendo. just for the old day's, i have my Super NES on my Flatscreen (it looks so crappy xD), just to play the old games again. Like A Link to the past, or SMB. (And the Cube and PSX are the best Consoles evar. imo.)

But i noticed 2-3 Years ago, that stunning Visual's, and every improving Gameplay Mechanics are more important to me than.. swinging my arm for every slash i want to make (after 3-4 Hours of Twilight Princess, my arm did hurt. :<)..

So yeah, back then, when i only had the wii, i was just dissapointed, i almost hated it for not beeing as 'shiny' as PS3 and 360 were for me. And of course, when i got my 360 after selling the Wii, it was like 'ZomfgAwsum!'

But now, i am used to HD graphics. And i think thats exactly why i want a Wii. For Games that are not fighting for title's like 'Best Graphics' all the time, and for games that dont have Achievement. A Game that doesnt tell me when i got 100% of everything i can in this game, to let me say for myself when i have seen enough of this game. So yeah, gimme light-hearted gaming from time to time.

@Nordlead:

i'll take a look at your list later, thanks. :)

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

All kidding/fanboyism aside I'd say no. The next Wii could come out as soon as next year or 2012 at the latest and I don't know how many good 1st party games are coming out in the near future.

Yeah to me graphics don't matter all that much...and the Wii is overall fun in my opinion. If you think you may get one eventually anyway then like I said I would get one now.

I'll be straight with you, when I had an income I only bought the wii and two games, after almost two years I'm still stuck in the situation. Even though their are still some games I want to aqcuire (that's including 3rd parties that are worth buying), I still get a kick out of it with just the two games I still have. Why? 'cause I bought them knowing I'll get most of it for the long haul. One is Mario Kart Wii and the other is The King of Fighters Collection (still playing the sh!zzle out of them).

So my question is to you:

Is their atleast one game that's only on the wii you know for sure (and I mean positively concrete) that won't bore you out for years to come, that keeps making you coming back for more? If it's a yes, than jump on the band wagon.

But if it's no, than I won't bash your head with the words of the fanboy/noobs out there until you convert into us/repeatedly try to slash off your cyber-manhood for your opposition, 'cause it's been done to death, pointless and pretty darn depressing.

Either way, it's your choice. And yeah, like the others said already.

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Oh look at me I buy consoles because of games with great graphics lalalalah!

Dude you should not buy it! In fact you should sell all your old consoles as well as the graphics suck and therefore the games suck as well :P

I am more like this oh this console has a game or two that I like so I buy it to play those games.

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I would save your money for the Wii 2, which will likely have better graphics and should also be backwards compatible.

Between WiiWare, Wii retail and any old Virtual Console games just about every major genre is covered with some depth now on Wii. It really depends on the genres you like and what kind of depth you expect...

That said, NES / Genesis / TGFX 16/ SNES / N64 / Arcade / GC / WiiWare / and Wii games are all playable for Wii.

Personally, I think Wii is already the best system ever for platformers, so if you like that genre at all its really a good buy.

Off the top of my head for platformers you have all of these titles available by the end of 2010 that are good to excellent between WW, VC, and Wii retail:

Cave Story, MM9, MM10, Lost Winds 1-2, SMB 1-3, Lost Levels, Mario World, Kirby SNES, Kirby NES, Sonic 1-3, Sonic & Knuckles, Yoshi's Story, DK64, Metroid, Super Metroid, Sonic 4, And Yet it Moves, Tomena Samner, La Maluna, Muscle March, Bit.Trip.Beat, DKC 1-3, Donkey Kong arcade, Mario Bros, Max & the Magic Marker, Nyxquest, Robotz, Wario Land,  Galaxy 1-2, DKC Returns, Kirby Epic Yarn, A Boy and His Blob, Nights, Epic Mickey, Jett Rockett, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, De Blob, Muramasa, Sonic & The Secret Rings, Sonic Colors, and there is probably other good stuff I'm missing.

Other than sports / fitness (Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Shaun White, WSR, Deca Sports 1-3, NBA Jam, Punch Out, We Ski, Tiger Woods, Madden, Mario Tennis VC, etc) Wii's strongest genre is probably platformers.

Shooters / RPGs are fairly well covered now even. You have Goldeneye, several COD games, Conduit, Metroid Prime 3 and a couple other strong shooters. Wii isn't shooter driven like PS3 / X360 but there are some real gems now. RPGs you have Shiren, Zelda, Monster Hunter 3, a Chocobo game, Tales, the sequel to FFIV, all the VC RPGs, and lesser stuff like Final Fantasy Crysal Chronicles Wii and then the eventual stuff like Last Story, DQX, Zelda: Skyward Sword.

There is surprising depth for what I would broadly call strategy games on Wii actually - Swords and Soldiers, FFCC: My Life as A Dark Lord / My Life as a King, Fire Emblem, Dawn of Discovery, Little King Story, in addition to VC stuff and upcoming games like Gods vs Humans (WW), Pikmin 3 (Wii) and a couple others I'd reckon.

The weakest Wii genre I'd say is racers. You have Mario Kart...some stuff on WW thats mediocre, some NFS games...and not much else.

So it really depends on what you like.

if you like mario games before you should at least try galaxy 2. It is amazing and the controls are perfect. there is waggling but it is neither awkward or uncorfotable. but you probably wont see galaxy´s full potencial if you dont get at least the first 120 stars. Still you should get it if you used to like mario games. galaxy wont disapoint
