Hmm. Free consoles from MS. Not bad. Great word of mouth of course, and probably not actually that costly vs say Oprah and the like.
This is going to get hammered with accusations of MS giving away consoles to meet their sales numbers most likely.
Makes sense to me though. Free electrical goods alway go down well and Sony do their own take on this plenty, too.
Why does none of this every happen in UK where I could take advantage of it, though? Or does it? I'm reading this as US only, correct?

MS gives away Xbox crap all the time. I just doubt they've given away enough to make much of an impact on over all sales.
I mean lets say they've given away 100K consoles over the years. In the grand scheme that's nothing in over all shipped numbers and basically just marketing.

The prize in stuff like this is almost always very low quantities. The number they are ultimately giving away is shown in the "official rules" link.
