Yup big fan of it, annoyed Brock lost, he could have potentially won that fight.

Looking forward to Machida/Rampage.

Excuse me, but how did you end up with this conclusion? He was getting dominated.

He was dominated.

I think, with a different gameplan and a different approach though, he could have emerged victorious. As things went, it really didn't go his way. Ducking right into an uppercut, and getting hit squarely in the back of the head. He couldn't recover like he did in the Carwin fight, and Cain obviously having watched it, was aware of the danger of tiring himself out.

Cain is by far a better striker. I think lesnar should have entered slower, started pawing, found his distance and went for take down after take down. I was a bit shocked when watching the fight live he charged in and started throwing wild knees. He made quite a few errors, even when he managed to take Cain down, he was more concerned with getting himself in place then keeping Cain grounded.

He's really going to need to alter his gameplan or bring in some serious striking coaches, because standing and trading with arguably two of the best heavyweight strikers in the UFC hasn't worked out well for him so far.

Rumor is he may be facing Kongo next, he also isn't bad in the stand up.

You're so wrong, it's not even funny. Cain and Carwin are not 2 of the best HW strikers in the UFC, not by a long shot. And Lesnar has shown that he turtles up when he gets hit, reminded me of Bob Sapp.

Who is then...? Kongo, Dos Santos (he's quite good), Nelson, Mir, Schaub?

8 of Carwin's 12 wins are down to his fists. All in the first round.

8 of Cain's 9 fights were ended by his fists. 7 TKO's.

The stats speak for themselves, but you only have to watch them fight, Carwin hit's damn hard, and Cain is a great precision striker.

As for Lesnar turtling up, it's unfortunate and perhaps he will never be able to change that aspect of his fight game. However, he's only fighting 2 years basically, all these other guys have been in the game far longer, so perhaps it could be down to training. I'm also convinced Lesnar does very little training off his back.

People like you are the same kind of people that say Shogun has great standup because most of his wins are by KO. I miss the good old days where we didn't have casuals who didn't know what the hell they were talking about watching MMA :(

And no, Lesnar won't ever change that, he doesn't like getting hit. Period. You can't train "chin".

So you first refute my point by simply saying 'im wrong' then when I ask you to clarify, you insult me.

Fantastic.

I didn't insult you and your reasoning as to why Cain and Shane are good strikers are poor at best. The reality is that Cain is a decent striker and Shane is a poor striker. Maybe I came across as aggressive so I apologize for that, but let me ask you, are you one of those people that just look at stats? If so, then you must think that Machida beat Shogun and that's that.

One thing people need to understand is this:

Just because you hit hard (Carwin) does not make you a good striker.  Cain is a better striker than Carwin, but Dos Santos is one of the best "strikers" left in the division.  Id have put Tim S. there as well but he is gone (not as much power as say Carwin/Cain but much more technical)  Brock goes in that crowd of "brawlers".  It is like people saying that Frank Mir is a good striker because he knocked out Nog.  Not even close.

And Machida beat Shogun because of the UFC rules/scoring, not because of skill.  3 rounds that were ties by the judges go automatically to the champ (which is bullshit) and the other rounds were not deemed 10/8 rounds.  Its a shame but something that Dana (who cannot do nearly as much in this department as he says) is trying to get rid of.

They need to bring back Yellow Cards from Pride.  LOVED that system.  You either fight or we will TAKE YOUR FUCKING MONEY.  Nothing is more of a motivator than money.

Used to be a big MMA fan during the heydays of Pancrase and Pride, but I don't watch it so much anymore. UFC has some world class fighters and all, but I guess the company's lowest common denominator approach reminds me too much of a monster truck rally.

Have you ever heard of a fighter called anderson silvia, I would'nt call that the lowest common denominator. GSP is another good fighter. The only problem I have with the UFC,there's so many fighter's,it's hard to keep up with all of them.lol

You mean the guy that got subbed by 2 tomato cans in Pride?

How many years ago was that? You're not honestly saying that Silva is over-rated are you?

Besides, people get beat. Sometimes it comes in bunches, sometiems it's spread out. Sometimes it's early in their career when they are less experienced(like with Silva) and sometimes it comes it comes later in their career after a period of dominance(Chuck).

Anwyas, Silva can be exciting and awe inspiring to watch sometimes, but I'm not a fan of his. But I'm not going to be ridiculous and imply that he is over-rated and not all he's cracked up to be.

The flying heel hook was one of the most amazing moves I have ever seen.  When you hear Bas Rutten say he has never seen anything like that, you know it is something special.

I picked the four option.

However, I did like WWF during the Attitude era. Does that count?

You called me a 'casual' who didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

I'm am STILL waiting for your list of strikers who are far better than Cain or Carwin in the UFC HW division.

I don't just look at stats, I watch the fights. However, beyond watching a fight and forming your own opinion, statistical facts are the only other available measure. I've gambled a bit of money on the ufc, and for prelim fights or fights with fighters I'm unsure of or haven't seen before, stats can be a very useful tool in predicting the outcome of a fight.

As for Machida/Shogun, I watched that live, and was shocked when Machida got the decision.

Out of pure interest what is your definiton of a good striker?
