Cooooool!! Now games will seem less realistic and will receive lower scores from IGN.

My neighbour acts like that, do you think that.... he.... nooo it can't be. Can it?!!?!?

Is he hot?

This could actually be really useful for people with special needs or old people who need someone to take care of them.

LOL. Well... it COULD be... after all, impossible is nothing (?)

Try to see what happens if you place a magnet near him. And also, see if dogs bark at him when they see him... if they do, like in Terminator, then he is obviously a robot (?) :P

WOW you made my day by posting this!!! (Not that my dad hadn't been made enough by Ps3 adjustments)

Now to answer your questions:

What do you think of that? Do you think robots will be living among us soon?

Not soon, I see major household robot's being introduced by 2030 though.....by 2060 androids en masse.

Will they have feelings someday, too? :P

Most definetely......."feelings" is something hard to say.....they will be programmed to show feelings through coding..just like us humans show feelings through coding via our genetic code. This is a very dodgy subject, the less said right now on it, the better.

What do you think their role on society will be?

Servants/Domestic help/soldiers......maybe in the ultra future governements.....but we will never see a Terminator scenario.

And how long until people start getting married to robots and they are treated like a normal human?

I actually made a thread on this 1 week about......about whether you could fall in love with an Android, check it out.

There you go, I've commented in that thread and aswered your questions :P

Lol, Terminator scenario xD

I think robots will end up living with humans as normal humans because some people will start adopting robots instead of real kids and they will be sent to school and stuff like that. When that situation gets bigger and more common, we will have robots among us as normal people :P

It will be hard to get a job if you compete with robots though xD unless you're the one who programs them :P

Its a scary scenario indeed in terms of jobs.

Androids brains will be like computers......they will be so much more efficient at doing things compared to us.

But will machines ever be able to "innovate"....that is my question......refinement is great and machines will excel at that, but when it comes to innovation I dunno.

Then again this lab in a University in USA did a Artificial Intelligence study by programming simple organisms in 3D in a computer. And the way the AI in the computer adapted compared to others was amazing........occasionally the scientist placed a object in the middle that would make the AI grow longer.....eventually some of the AI learnt to attack the other AI before they could get the object in the middle.....an remember these are all just computer programs. If your interested about this I'll send you a link (if I can find one....lol I saw it in a program online).

I don't know if they'll be able to innovate or not... but if they are able to... we are pretty much screwed xD

That sounds interesting... but that AI sounds kinda aggressive, attacking others and all :P If you can find that program then I'll probably watch it... but if not... then it's fine :P

Anyways, people usually say that the technology shown to us is actually 10 years old... so, if those rumours are true, maybe robots are a lot more advanced than what they show us... It would be cool if an advanced robot escaped the lab they're hidden in and showed up in society :P

I should stop imagining stuff, lol xD

I don't think we are screwed really.

If robots are able to innovate and mass produce themselves the eventually direction of this planet might be the extinction of the human race and basically robots ruling the planet in their own way.

Co-existence is always an option, but I do wonder about the job market for a human in such a world.

Then there's talk about transplanting human brains into a mechanical body....basically kind of an immortality state....maybe becoming cyborgs is the future for humans.

I should stop watching sci fi movies! {runs away}

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I can imagine the first sex android with paid DLC for different positions in 2050.

You can order your custom android with everything like you like the most.

Plus, they won't get pregnant and won't ask stupid question. You can also have multiple at the same time with no worries.

And as a bonus she will make you a sandwich.

If we can transplant our brains into mechanical bodies, we will live much longer than normal... but if we want to live forever, we will also have to find a way to keep our brains from deteriorating over time :P... if genetics solves that, then we will be immortal.

If I'm ever a cyborg... I want to be called... Gray Fox O_O (or Frank Jaegger, Null, Cyborg Ninja... but NOT deepthroat, LOL)... nah, I'm just kidding :P

I already know robots exist in society. Everyone else but me is a robot and they only activate when I communicate with them. They think they have me fooled but I know....I know.

He's onto us that's preposterous and you need psychiatric help.

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

it only took legos 70ish years for them to start building themselves!!

soon machines will be building machines!! they'll start outnumbering us and we'll never know it!!  the end is near!!

I don't think we'd be screwed, but we will be forced to adapt.

What will probably happen is we'd take control of our own evolution and improve ourselves. Bigger more efficient brains, Longer lifespans, Stonger and faster, Better reaction times, More resistent to infections etc.

Probably possible if we can make sentient robots. Furthermore thats not taking into account any cibernetic advances aswell.

We'll change, a future with sentient robots isn't neccesarily one that means our inevitable irrelivance. Humans are very adaptable and with furhter advances into technology we'll probably be able to readily influence this adaptability and use it to our advantage.

EDIT furthermore, if a robot has a big enough synthetic brain to be considered sentient then surely it would probably be prone to daydreaming, boredom etc. They will be able to do many things more efficiently then us (in our current state) but that certainly doesn't mean that there isn't a cost involve with becoming self-aware. A machine that is sentient probably wouldn't want to work 24 hours a day like a mindless machine does. They will probably demand holiday pay etc aswell.
