Maybe, but I just call it like I see it.

Calling it like you see it can get you banned here.

Trust me. I know from personal experience.

Did a thread about the sales of the week ending 23rd October 2010, where the PS3 sold a quarter of a Million units, outselling everything, really go into a discussion about how the PS3 is a failure because it's not done as well as the PS2?

Really?

All it takes is a disappointed Xbot, who cant see healthy competition among consoles.

OT  NIce sales all around I would say, especially Xbox in NA.

careful with the "xbots" calling you might get banned.

Yea, Xbot might be a little harsh. How about "other console challenged individual" ?

@Kowen

I agree with CGI. As a staff member i dont think you should be in the forums saying you questiong the integrity or validity of the sites numbers just because you dont like them or because the adjustments were large. Or making sarcastic comments about having to wait until next year at this time to find out who sells th emost this holiday.

No place for that. And please dont queue up your often used "well if sony fans do it....or if it were th eother way around" take the high road, dont use trolls and lackluster, immature posters as a crutch to behave in a similar way. Be above it...especially as a staff member.

Its a weekly sales thread, Sony fell on its face and adjusted (which is whats being applauded not what should or could have been base don last generation 5 years ago) a lot of us are pleased to see the company get things right and make a product we enjoy viable in todays economy and industry and in a similar but far less drastic way, ioi and this website acquired new information that altered previous tracking and accepted this realistic variable and adjusted...it should be applauded and supported....especially from staff members, IMO.

Impressed by 360 - Fallout NW numbers. Did great!

Well this is certainly... different.

DS on track to beat the PS2 right before the 3DS launches and it seems the early holiday boost has set in for all three home consoles. This will be the most interesting holiday season in console history!

I didn't think that the PS3 would ever catch the 360.  Unless Kinect does what MS expects it to do, PS3 may just catch the 360 in 2011 (or 2012).   Color me impressed!

See this is how expectations change...

You will be impressed that the runaway market leader last gen has crawled into secoind place after 5 or 6 years on sale?   Most here, and many currently celebrating this recent adjustment - which still has it 3.9m behind, expected this within a year or so of the PS3 release.

It will be an achievement of sorts yes... but impressivbe? hell no.

Whjats impressive is the market loser last gen, Ninty, has domintaed so far this gen and that MS has managed to build a profitable and worthy gaming business.

but thats just my opinion...

Yes. Most logical grown ups take changing variables and not only taper expectations but progress in mind sets. So, some people try to diminish what is happening currently in reality by bringing up last gen to bring down current successes. These folks are living in the past and not progressing through reality with the variables of business and life. While others remember the train wreck that was the first 2 years of the PS3's life and see whats happening now and can appreciate the realize the tremendous recovery that was made.

Its not "flip flopping" its not "damage control" its a real life discussion. What the PS3 has been able to do is amazing in any market. To go from DOA and the numbers in japan, the losses of the division etc. to now posting quarterly profits and selling stronger than ever after falling flat on its face for 2 years is absolutely wonderful. Im commenting on this because its this weeks numbers.

Now, if we had a thread, and i cared enough about the 360, i would be saying the same thing for its long term prospect an dpicture. Who would have though the 360 would have sold over 50 million and still chuggin along after the xbox1? Its amazing what MSFT was able to do and theyre a part of the PS3 falling on its face by giving consumers a viable alternative and marginlizing the PS2 success. Anyways, im getting off track.

In summery, the weakest argument in the year 2010-2011 is still trying to bring up the PS2 success to diminish what the PS3 is doing now. Its so petty and pointless. It was 5 years ago, give it a rest, times have changed, i understand you want to keep bringing it up because it justifies your disdain but realistically its not a solid case anymore. This generation is not last generation.

I think it shows a lot about a poster when they bring up LAST GEN sales in a WW weekly sales topic. But thats just my opinion.

Thats a very wordy response... as ever..

And I can quite easily say that you only want to ignore the fall of the PS brand to suit your own purposes..  whose right? me or you?  maybe we both are?  Maybe you are relieved at its turnaround, perhaps more relieved than impressed?... doesnt alter the fact that the brand has fallen a great deal.

It isnt sour grapes, it isnt damage control.. its just a fact.  Perhaps you dispute the fact that the brand isnt all powerful as it once was, perhaps you dispute the fact that it is an all mighty fall from grace.  Im sure Sony have noticed and mind a great deal, even if its "fans" havent.

And yes, a wordy well thought out response. The forum could use more of those thank you very much. So spare me your condescending bitter attitude "as ever"

And as an aside, im a 24 year old nursing student who loves videogames and playing soccer.......those are my purposes in life, i frequent this forum because i enjoy the dialogue, i enjoy following the numbers and i enjoyed peoples insults of Darth dog (sorry darth its funny). The fact you think im commenting on "suiting my purpose" is evidence to me you may in fact be taking things a bit too seriously and could be losing some perspective on what this place is to a lot of us, an enjoyable outlet of a hobby.

LOL! This thread has officially become epic! Must bookmark!

And someone actually said he sees no meltdown from a certain poster but here we are....meltdown galore! It's good tho, enjoyable

and let me use a statement made by the same person sometime back which I remember well

"you know your a fanboy when you try to downplay great sales of another company"

If someone wants to check the above statement I think it was made on the first or second week of xbox S launch and I think it was BHR who got ganged up against because of it. But my oh my the very people who said it are here doing the exact thing. How times/people change and how true colors emerge from those Hollier than thou personalities. I'm enjoying seeing such reactions a great deal

keep em coming

PS2 is set for an adjustment of sorts for itself as well.  Possibly a few million even.  I wouldn't be surprised if Sony gives us numbers for PS2 eventually that are a bit higher than what we have.
