If Kinect doesn't significantly improve the sales performance (can't say whether it will or not), then PS3 is guaranteed to hold a 2nd place position.  The momentum that Sony has is permanent rather than temporary as shown since the Slim $299 PS3 was released.

The Problem with the 360 is they are popular in two places, All the Kinect Hype ( will be huge) are either from US or Uk, that alone is not enough to hold up the PS3. Unless we count each Kinect unit as a 360, then the PS3 is domed.

Assuming similar sales trends to now (i.e. no price cut for the 360, no phasing out of the PS3 for any strange reason), and assuming that Kinect will have quite a negligible effect after the initial rush, then I would say that the PS3 will make up the gap by the end of 2011.

Looking at the UK numbers for the past couple of weeks, the PS3 has drawn level with the 360. Kinect could temporarily change that, but I do see the UK slowly tipping back in favour of the PS3.

America is, of course, a "lost cause", as such. The gap isn't enormous, but it is significant, and is unlikely to ever be completely eroded.

sales are important for a company, but i dont think sony cares if the ps3 outsells the 360. ofcourse they want to get profit, kinect is going to boost the 360, by the end of q1 2011 well see if it has a chance of passing the 360. other then that sony acomplished their mission, they lifted the playstation brand from the shit hole it was in for the last two years, and got people interested in it. and considering kaz has been with them all along i consider it a good gen for sony.

ps: if you cant spot my joke dont bother qouting.

Nothing point to Kinect doing much after it pre-orders, so I guess somewhere in 2011.

thats possible , but alittle early in my opinion!

i don't know when it will out sell 360 worldwide, but here are my end of yr predictions regarding the 2 console for 2011

PS3:60-63m

360:58-60m

it will be all over in 2011, the PS3 has been closing the gap and now it's about to kick dirt in microsofts face,even after the 360 had a year ( 9million ) headstart,oh well. Getting quite obvious now the 360 will be in last place,Might get me a PS3 next year in time for Killzone 3.

NOBODY would have predicted this before the start of this gen.

MS has played a blinder this gen and is very well set for the next generation of consoles... they will only go from strength to strength.

How can you guarantee that? How do you know whether the next Xbox won't be a failure or not?

Pretty much everyone guaranteed last gen that the PS3 will be the Market Leader because of the overwhelming success of the PS2 and PS1 before that... Until the Price was announced and which lead to the abysmal Launch of the PS3.

People could've said the exact same thing as you last gen. "The PS2 has been such an overwhelming success this gen. They will only go from strength to strength next gen with the PS3"...

NOBODY can predict Next Gen.
