Forums - Microsoft - Kinect featured on The Ellen Degeneres Show

That looked like a lot better presentation than the Oprah one (since Oprah just showed a basic video/ad for kinect and didn't have it demoed on stage).

I want to see what happened and what she said after her dance though as that video cut her off right away.

Games like Dance Central will definitely drive the Kinect titles. Ellen was surprisingly good at the game and helped highlight how awesome this technology can be.  I think that this is excellent marketing by MS as it shows how people who aren't gamers (and I'm willing to bet that includes Ellen) can have a blast playing a game for Kinect.  Every single demo I have seen of this game shows the players completely grinning ear to ear and by-standers enjoying watching it almost as much.  I am white, I do not dance. That said, this game still looks freakishly entertaining!

Basically MS is really smart. They took a step back and said, "What did Nintendo do with Wii that made it required in every American family home?" What they saw was Nintendo putting it out on the nonGaming mass market channels. So they copied this. However, Nintendo also went country wide and got people to play it for months after launch. I don't see MS doing this because it doesn't play as nicely as Wii did. That will be Kinect's fall. Wii was increadibly fun to play and Kinect thus far seems to have issues barring that same simple fun.

You do realize that MS has had Kinect playable all over the world for a couple of months now.  Give www.kinect.me a hit to see where you can go try it.  They did this with prerelease software on prerelease hardware.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

She gave a Xbox 360 and a Kinect to everybody in the audience.

And she said Michelle Obama came to the show that day only to get Kinect for her daughters lol

I love Ellen.

My sister texted me few days ago and asked for Kinect for christmas...now I see why.

MS would have preferred Oprah, but she couldn't till Xmas, she's still tidying up all the mess since the last time she received Tom Cruise.

wow the audience looks deranged!

Actually I did not know that. So they did copy all of Nintendo's Wii launch moves. Very smart as it is the best way to hit that mass market who just won't "get it" by seeing a commercial.

That's what non-gamers look like. Scary huh?

It's indeed a cool thing to be paid to play in front of cameras... You better show that it's fun even if it's not

You're right, because if it's one thing we've heard over and over about Dance Central is how NOT fun it is!

You're right, having this much fun should be forbidden by law.
