Hello all

First time poster here, please allow me to take this oppertunity to introduce myself.

 I came from Taiwan, I have been a console gamer ever since the late 80s. My first console was Nintendo (what we called the red white machine). Stoped console games after super nintendo, I don't own any of the PS console. I was a huge Final Fantasy fan (I have done my fair share of camp outside the store for the release of FF  3,4,5,6) I didn't play any of the final fantasy series from 7 onwards, I just couldn't handle the unisex powder face looking main characters.

 I have read this forum for quite some time and I see a lot of gamers that are passionate about their chosen consoles, me myself are currently just came back from a PC gamer to a console gamer again under the influence of my beloved Xbox 360. Now before I get branded a fanboy I will say I have no ill feelings about PS products, I just don't like any games that they publish and its just as simple as it is.

The Xbox brand have come a long way from been a total failure (as a matter of fact in regards to regions like Taiwan , Hong Kong, China) to having a equal footing if not higher game population compare to the new PS3s. Most of my opinion and sources are coming from this site here (www.gamer.com.tw) the link are just provided as a proof of me not just pulling stuff out of thin air please delete it if not appropriate, is the best and most popular multi-platform gaming site for the above asian regions. Altho that site doesn't actually track sells records like VGchartz but it does shows the popularity of each forums for the day. Heres a quick number of hits for the console forums for yesterday.

The interesting thing is that before the 360, there wasn't even a xbox forum. There are some key factors that xbox 360 are doing better then PS3 currently:

Prize tag (I know its a world wide issue for PS3)

Language (A lot of the Asian players are tired of been treated as second class citizen by the japos! For more then 20 years we as players from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China supported the japanese gaming market and it has been recored that we are between 20-25% of the total game consumers in japan, and yet we never ever been given language support from any of the consoles)

Game Trend (There are more and more asian players start to accept Western style games such as GoW, Halo, GTA, Mass Effect, Bioshock didn't do that good to my personal dismay =( and if I dare say some even got tired of JRPGs ! Oh my god I said it)

I will say that PS3 will have a very hard battle ahead of them compare to xbox console, it has been pointed out time and time again in japanese gaming site that developers all around seeing japanese console game markets are dying, its more of just a trend which are not entirly game related. The japanese are just simply likes to go out more haha.

There are more I would like to say but I feel I shouldn't cramp it all into 1 post, I will continue once I have more free time.

Now we have this debate every day..

And I do DISAGREE with almost all of your points...

Because first of all the Ps3 "will" have a hard battle but that is more so due to the wii than the 360 I feel..

For me,

Xbox360 : 2 years : 80k
PS3 : 1 year : 50k

and I suppose the sell rate show the same thing :
PS3 sales > Xbox360 sales

These numbers just underlign it is good to rush ur console and be able to have 1 "out of competition" year ...GG Microsoft.

(note : hey, ps3 is over the Wii, like in Spain, let's create another thread ...)

Nice to hear from a Taiwanese gamer. Ive seen shipment numbers for the X360 in Taiwan, and it still seems to be in the lead.

Hopefully, you enjoy our games...MS needs to put more cash in Taiwan, stat.

On a side note, Lost Odyssy are doing great in other asian regions apart from Japan, I really do think its got nothing to do with the game itself. It have the best production cast line-up. The founder and producer for Final Fantasy, as well as reknowed Manga author for character design and star music producer. You simply just can't find better team then this. It has been speculated that it should have been the RPG of the year and even for the year to come in japan if it were simply released on a japanese console.

P.S there is a thread right now having people signing up from all over taiwan and Hong Kong that we are going to purchase both English and Chinese version of Lost Odyssy to show our support of the game.

I hope you know that I am strictly speaking for Asian regions in Taiwan + Hong Kong + China. As you can probably see from the forum hit rate wii are doing even less numbers then PS3, but one of the main reason is because WII for us are even more of a "family console" and not a "gaming console" Therefore a lot of the younger or older audiences just buy and play the game without the need to use a forum to discuss.

I just realized that might put me in an unfair advantage should there be any arguements between our views.. In the future I will try to post more public information and hopefully that can provide some equal grounds if there are any disagreements.

Unfortunately it cannot been seen that way for 2 reasons:

1. 360 only released (Officially) 5 months ealier then PS3 for us

2.  Like I pointed out before the 360 the xbox brand have virtually no market what so ever in asia, right now 360 is doing phenomenal in that regards.

Oh and its generally accepted that PS3 are cheaper then XboX360, the reason been that talking about upcoming games on forums are cheaper then actually buying games and play them.
