Not me!  i'm not in the Beta Trial Program.  And I didn't get into the Dead Nation beta.  Plus I'm apparently on Media Molecule's shit list, so I didn't get in the LB Water/Coop beta or the LBP2 beta.  =(

And yeah, this beta seems to be open to the public, as far as information is concerned.  During the Killzone 2 beta, they were actively banning anybody that leaked info about the beta, but we had a GG dev come into the KZ3 beta thread and specifically ask us to make sure we post our thoughts on the beta boards in addition to gaf.  Didn't seem to care that we were talking about the game at all, so I guess it's all good lol.



So I recently found out why I can't play online... "suk" is in my PSN ID...

I don't get the comparisons to Call of Duty.

The meta game design is total dissimilar to that of Call of Duty (game modes, class system, etc.), and even when looking strictly at both games' control schemes, the two are still quite different.  Killzone 3 retains numerous characteristics of 2's control scheme, like the heft in your step and the game's reload animations (though both running and reloading have been sped up just a hair in 3), plus it has new gameplay mechanics like the Brutal Melee System.  The only area in which Killzone 3 is really comparable to Call of Duty is in the lack of recoil while shooting down the sites, which is one part of a much, much larger package.

It's like saying Counter-Strike: Source and Team Fortress 2 are the same game because they feature near identical aim/crouch/jump mechanics.

Yeah, I kinda overreacted on that one, but from the videos, the guy is friggin' spamming the sniper rifle, and just like that, nearly every bullet is connecting. One thing I liked about Killzone 2 was the recoil. Sure, it could've used a bit of tweaking, but to remove it completely? That better be fixed. That's why I made the COD comparison. It's basically holding the player's hand.

And finally, I just don't see why they had to remove the server lists...that was a very foolish move.

Currently you have trouble joining friends and staying in squads, and the system sucks at keeping teams balanced.  There are also few options in what game types it searches for, only letting you select the game mode and choose your map preferences.  I'm sure all will be improved by launch, however.  Looking specifically at the lack of options, Killzone 2's beta was also woefully barren in that regard.
