It took about a year and 8 months, but I grew tired of 3D gaming. I don't even bother taking the glasses out of the pouch when I play a PC game, even if 3D compatible...

Glad I got bored of the technology before it even took off in the mainstream :)

What? When did this happen???

It started when I set up my 3 monitors in surround...which are 2D. To use 3D, I have to go in to my profiles and disaple the 3 monitors and make my 3d projector the primary display.

That alone wouldn't really be a big deal, but I went through the whole backlog of 3D capable games which interest me. The new releases don't really float my boat, despite being in 3D. I play games cause of gameplay, and when the gameplay doesn't interestet me, visuals don't matter at all.

I understand your first argument, the practical thingy.

But your second argument. Just because gameplay is more important than visuals (duh) you got tired of 3D??

There is nothing to play that has good gameplay...Games that are being certified 3D are not my cup of tea. Not every PC game that comes out works good in 3D...and out of the ones which were recently released in 3D:

Mafia 2 - not my type of game

Lost Planet 2 - sucks

Dead Rising 2 - is great, but coop with buddies (all who have 360 version) is more important

Just Cause 2 - sucks

etc...

Last new 3D certified game that I played all the way through was Metro 2033.

Gameplay of these other games doesn't interest me...so the fact they are perfect in 3D is pointless.

Follow me hombre?

I see what you mean tho...I can't really become tired of 3D cause of lack of games. So thats not a reason why I got tired...but more why I am not using it as much.

The tech itself is becoming somewhat predictable. Every game, depending on what engine its using has similar 3D effects. After using it for a while it becomes just mundane, and if there isn't any wow factor, the whole set up process of turning off the lights, and wearing the dorky glasses isn't worth it.

Why do u have to turn off the lights though?

Pretend u was me. I love Oblivion. Wouldn't Oblivion in 3D be an even better experience than 2D, even if just slightly?

If the lights are on there is interference and the glasses go out of sync for a moment every 30 seconds...Most glasses have this issue since they use IR and other sources of light interfere.

And as far as oblivion...yes but it really depends how it looks in 3D. Good 3D makes a game better.

I replayed like 5 gamecube games I was long done with using the the Dolphin emulator cause they looked great in 3D. This stage in Sonic Adventure 2 is the single most impressive 3D effect I've seen...

3D wont be doomed and never will be

3D will be added to heaps single new TV in the future, just like all new TV's offered "HD" then Full 1080p HD. 3D will run like that. Soon 3D will be the norm in all future TV's, and even if you dont use 3D in the future you would have an TV that can run 3D.

Hey we experienced this not long ago to, anyone forgetting how sceptical we all were about HD

There was limited content, you needed an digital tuner and people seemed that SD was good enough. Look now every TV offers HD, there are heaps of HD channels.

3D will be the same as the HD conversion, hell i am in Australia and there is already a 3D channel, it shows nothing at the moment but sporting games and some 3D content.

I agree 100% with this.  Hell, i beleive the reason HDTV is doing so "well", is simply because no one even sells SDTVs anymore.

What can I say, it makes me laugh.

I remember a time when widescreen was looked at as a luxury and was never going to be the norm then it was like HD who needs that and within 2 years there won't be any TV besides cheep ones that are not 3D capable.
