Forums - Nintendo - Activision Expects "Big Sales" For GoldenEye Wii

When was the last time Activision ever advertised a Wii game? If ever?

I see lots of Guitar Hero and Cabela's _____ Hunter advertising actually.  Activision might fail hard when it comes to promoting CoD Wii, but they're not so bad elsewhere.

Which is also why I don't think CoD will be that much of a competition when it comes to the Wii version. The games' sales are slow burning. Not high, but solid.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

@Mr. T-tar  where are you from???? ive seen more ads for Conduit than any other 3rd party game ever, billboards, magazines, TV you name it

I'm from the U.K, where the game was advertised as little as possible, I saw no ads whatsoever.  The fact it had one of the most drab boring box arts I've ever seen didn't help sales either (I know I'm showing the 'special edition' box art, but the 'normal' version was never sold without the special cover her)

Even though it's technically 3rd party, I saw actually lots of ads for the first Mario & Sonic game on the TV, but I didn't count it in my original post as it's often treated as 1st party.

And TC wasn't marketed that much. Perhaps in metropolitan areas, but suburban and elsewhere, there was barely anything.

I've seen a lot of commercials for this game to be honest.

I first saw it during ESPN broadcasting (5-8PM??)

Then I saw it on MTV during Jersey Shore (9-12PM)

Then I saw it on Animal Planet

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Some companies ought to look at Nintendo's strategy and spend some money on booking prime slots. Daniel Craig playing the game alongside, I dunno, a ridiculously scantily clothed Gemma Arterton ought to do the trick ;)

Perhaps strip-Goldeneye?

:P

Holy shit... they did it. They did it.

X-Factor - Prime Time - Goldeneye advert showing 4 people playing the game on local multi...

Woot.

More of that will equal sales - wonder if Nintendo are supporting the advertising.

No strip-Goldeneye, sadly.

Why should Nintendo support the advertising? Activision are loaded with the moolah.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Sure. They got shed loads of the dollar.

Wii sales could get a massive boost if Goldeneye is a)bloody good and b)marketed well. This is why I wonder if Nintendo may be supporting the game in terms of marketing. It appeals to a huge market of 20 plus males (something the Wii is weak in) and old schoolers that may not have been tempted back by Mario. It's not like these types of games have been well-supported by third parties in the past.

I haven't seen any Goldeneye adverts yet, but I didn't watch X Factor last night! Goldeneye had around 50k preorders in the states alone with 2 weeks left until release, it'll probably do over 100k on it's first week alone and then with the christmas bump could end up doing a million early next year.

I think it's quite telling that this is the first time in the Wii's lifespan that I'm going to give props to a third party on how they've advertised a Wii exclusive game for the 'hardcore'.

The ads during X-Factor were pretty much in every commercial break, which makes a nice change from only seeing them at 1am on Comedy Central (aka the Ubisoft approach).
