I'm from the U.K, where the game was advertised as little as possible, I saw no ads whatsoever.  The fact it had one of the most drab boring box arts I've ever seen didn't help sales either (I know I'm showing the 'special edition' box art, but the 'normal' version was never sold without the special cover her)

 

Even though it's technically 3rd party, I saw actually lots of ads for the first Mario & Sonic game on the TV, but I didn't count it in my original post as it's often treated as 1st party.


And TC wasn't marketed that much. Perhaps in metropolitan areas, but suburban and elsewhere, there was barely anything.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
