my question is what happened to the real good music we used to have a few years ago? have you heard some of the songs playing on the radio nowadays, they have no deep meaning and they are mediocre at best. im not denying that there still artists that can make good music as i know that there are but they are either still underground or they dont get the recognition they deserve. what are your thoughts

Freddie Mercury
Michael Jackson

The best are gone.

My opinion of course.

There is still decent music coming out. The problem is we are lacking performers. A lot of artists today put out great stuff from the studio, but they lack the true talent. We need someone like MJ or Freddie that can entertain and sing at the highest level at the same time. Most of the guys now days can only sing with assistance, so there live stuff sounds terrible. They also just don't see to have the same soulfulness of classic acts. Just watch Percy Sledge Belting out When A Man Love's A Woman back in the day.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

i agree, we do need some true entertainers that can perform well, and i think why the soulful music is hard to find is because now practically everybody has access to a studio nowadays

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

I am lucky I enjoy the commercial shit to some degree. Real music is hard to find and yes I am afraind it's disappearing.

Try to lower your standards in music. Forgot lyrical content and song structure, embrace the one-hit wonders and the millions of songs that say "Yea" as fillers. You'd be surprised how much you'll be enjoying music again.

Of course it may just create large holes in your brain.

It's hard to come by. I've been creating my playlist over the last 13 years and every year I tend to add fewer songs permanently. In fact this year I had to go back to the artists I like and look into their older stuff that I'd never listened to to even find any good music.

I actually created a thread about this a while back regarding "artists you like that don't get the recognition you think they deserve" as a way to find these underground talent and share them with others but no one posted :(. Anyone care to bring it back from the dead? (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=114320). It's not that old. I created it in mid-August so there shouldn't be any problem in reviving in.

haha. Very true. You sir win 1 internets.

Music got industry-zed (don't know the word :P ).

Pepole hear something because it's on the radio, not the other way around.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Here in Norway, 90% of all music on radio and TV is Hip-Hop and R'n B. All the time, without pause. Then there's the thirteen on the dozen singing ladies and gentlemen with a guitar on their lap singing about their relationships in high school and of course, the derelict "cowboys" that sing about whiskey and broken hearts.

I never listen to the radio, its filled to the brim with unoriginal crap.
