Okay, I didn't play it for forever because I didn't want to play it on my ancient computer when I was about to build a new one that could do it justice ... which I procrastinated on and had unbelievable problems getting up and running, but this isn't that thread.  I just wanted to explain why I'm only now playing the campaign.  

This thread is about a moment in campaign or multiplayer that was just so incredible you feel the need to share it ... like this. 

SPOILER ALERT IN CASE YOU'RE RETARDED

So I'm playing the Safe Haven mission and the mothership is obviously laying waste to all it sees, and it seems like I'll never build up in time (I started too slow I think), but then I take out one nexus and the rest seem to just fall like dominos.  Cool! 

Now I know the mothership has got to be a beast but I have a decent number of forces garrisoning my base so it should be no problem ... OSHIT it's got a fucking fleet backing it up!!  I scramble the surviving Nexus forces back to base (they were still mopping up enemy bases for the hell of it)  and make sure I'm recruiting like a mofo. 

Once I've destroyed most of the fleet all my Valkyries are dead and I just say "hell with it" and tell most of my remaining forces (marines and medics) to just ignore everything and concentrate on the mothership.  But I can tell it's not enough, so I grabbed all my SCVs that were almost done eating up the minerals anyway to attack it.  But apparently they can't hit things in the air?!  WTF but they can repair my air units! 

But wait!  I tell them to build about TEN MISSILE TURRETS where the mothership is getting ready to toast my base (I ran out of minerals at ten).  I bite all my nails off while they're building, and the marines are plinking away at it, and then finally BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM and the mothership is flaming wreckage!!!  And the winning cinematic shows a bunch of valkyries lol.  I don't think I had a single one left, unless they built while I wasn't looking.

Epic moment man. Anyone that hasn't beaten the game or at least gotten to Safe Haven must not be playing much. What difficulty were you playing on? And why did you side with that stupid girl? Lol

I was playing 1v1 in Silver League on Metropolis after not having played for about a week. The guy I'm facing is named "BilboBaggins" and he was using Zerg and was slightly favored. I play as Protoss. About 5 minutes in, he starts zerg/baneling rushing me and I am fucked.

So I do what any normal person does that wants to win. I expand the hell all over in hopes of rebuilding. I had a token force of about 14 zealots so I wasn't completely defenseless. I expand to the southern base and eventually, he finds it and I had some cannons and zealots up that got eaten by the banelings. Then, when all is lost and I have about 3 buildings left, he starts lagging. Countdown starts....60...59...58......3...2...1...

"BilboBaggins has left the game."

I fucking flip out with joy with the blood pumping through my body. Damn did that adrenaline kick in. Then I got to like 4th rank Silver League.

I'm playing on Hard mode.  Maybe I'll try Brutal after I finish, but I'll probably go for the achievements I missed first. 

If you go through all the missions on brutal, you can get a human kerrigan portrait!

This doesn't really count as an epic "moment", but ...

I went back and did the other choice for this mission (Haven's Fall), and I completely ANNIHILATED the mission.  I built up a mixed force of Air Vikings, Marines, and Medics, which was very effective.  All I had to do was put a bunker (later, two) on my flanks and my base was golden. 

After I saved the first colonist base, I maxed my economy; built my army up, adding Groung Vikings and SCVs to the mix; and just started brutalizing every Zerg force I touched.  It was so ridiculous that the only challenge was when I'd attack a Zerg home base, and an infected colonist base would pop up, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to destroy the Zerg base, get over to the colonist base, and destroy the Zerg infestation and still be in time to save the colonists.  But I always did.  I didn't lose a single colonist base!  

By the end, I was thinking, "Am I really on Hard mode?"  But apparently I was, since I got all 3 achievements plus two more for finishing the colonist achievements.  Go me? 

That's boss.

Beat the game.  The final cinematic was definitely an epic moment.  I'd be lying if I said I didn't suspect the twist, but it was still VERY excellently done. 

If anyone has the game but is neglecting the campaign in favor of multiplayer, do yourself a favor.  Go on over to the campaign and play it through, on whatever difficulty you feel like.  It's worth it.
