I don't see any reason..Ps3 maybe down some because of slim launch and Uncharted 2 but still difference is huge.

PS3 & Wii were coming off the back of price cuts this time last year. PSP and DS to a lesser extent are stagnating; plus many are waiting for their successors. PSP could use a price cut, when was the last one?

Wii had a price cut THIS WEEK 1 year ago

Ps3 was in the MASSIVE slim and pricecut boost

exactly the last gen market was around 200 million, this gen its 250 million 

so we have reached 150 milion in 4 years instead of 175 million last gen in 6-7 years. 

Everyone seems to buy consoles right away and we still have a heap more years left. 

the rest of that i say 100 million more console sales will go to PS3/360 with them gaining 30-20 million respectably 

the last two gens we had 1 sided race with PS1 total domination followed up by ps2 total domination. Now we have two close by at 40 million each and one slowing down at 70 million. i expect the end sales to be 70 million ps3, 65 million xbox and 80 million Wii's

Seems circumstantial comparing it to last year rather than just being an overall downtrend of video game sales.

btw , when is the holiday season exactly in UK and US ?

It all has to do that none of them have anything interesting to offer. The well of new games is very dry, but in terms of quality and quantity.

Because PS2 is dying, PSP is dying (except Japan) Wii is underperforming. The PS3 was still riding the wave of the Slim introduction and DS is going on his last great sales year.

Only the X360 is up.

It is not really hard to understad why the sales are down;

Next year we probably have an thread how great the HW sales are thx to 3DS.
