That's what Sony hopes

Hi, CrazzyMan.

I didn't want to buy a PS3 because I wasn't thrilled by the lineup. I wasn't a fan of BR movies and didn't think the $499 to buy a system was worth it. However, as games like Uncharted are coming out, and there are more movies like Cars and kiddie movies, I am somewhat interested. However, I am still on the diving platform and not ready to make the jump. The only real reason I'd got one is I have firms/devs that want to send me PS3 games for review. 

I definitely agree with you. Associates can be jackasses, uninformed tools. However, I gave her street cred because she did lead me to believe she knew what she was talking about, and as a gamer from 3 decades, I can call someone on BS at 1000 paces.

Either she was telling the truth, or dressing up a lie so pretty I looked like my avatar afterward.

Besides, it's software, so as I stated earlier, couldn't Sony just add more memory to the chipset/motherboard to accomodate BC in the future? And what about that new SKU Sony applied for? Could that be the 40gb BC?

I have dropped an e-mail to one of my contacts, a Sony exec. I'm awaiting his response.

You see I'm a Sony fan in the heart, but I don't see any software now that appeals to me, but I have a 360 that is cool. For temporary reasons. But when I see MGS4 and God of War 3 releases. I then will pick up the 40GB PS3.

 I was happy with the PS2 until the PS3 came out, I never saw a reason to go to 360. Now I'm totally satisfied with the PS3 games

this is what I think will happen eventually.  From what I have heard, they can do it with few games, but the task is quite monumental and will be a very time consuming task to get it to work properly.  They won't push anything with this until they can get at least 70% or higher emulated.

Why would they need a new model? I thought the 80gb model was just emulated with software? Can't they just put out an update for 40gb models with the software and then the new 40gb reversion would just include it automatically.

In fact that is probably why it wasn't originally there. Their was probably some issue with its compatibility or something it was better to put out the 40gb early and send out the software later in a patch once all the issues were ironed out.

60GB had both ps2 video and CPU hardware inside.
80GB has only ps2 video or cpu hardware inside, don`t remeber.
40GB has nothing from ps2 hardware.
