If vgchartz keep revise their overall worldwide numbers to show that the gap between the PS3 and 360 shrinking, maybe that means that the PS3 has actually been outselling the both the 360 and the Wii. Hmmm.....
Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.
Keep in mind that Ps3 is having Move Boost and bundles while Kinect is still not on MArket... when Kinect arrives Ps3 has no chance in EMEAA and Americas but Ps3 will lead the rest of this gen in Japan and maybe next year in EMEAA aswell with price cut.

Well perhaps the PS3 will come down slower since it released later? But yeah you're right lol.

But didn't at some point the gap was larger than 5 million? According to what I've seen on this sight when it comes to the adjusted worldwide numbers is that the gap between the PS3 and 360 was shrinking when the PS3 Slim was released. Then it was increasing when the 360 Slim was launch and then it was decreasing again. If vgchartz keeps showing that the gap continues to shrink (I went from 5.8 to 5.4 to 5.1 and now 5.0 recently) that means the PSS3 has been outselling the 360 worldwide recently. Then again, since vgcharts need to continually adjust their number, maybe they aren't accurate in their tracking.

I think you need to understand how the numbers work on here. The adjustments that happened to change the gap are historical adjustments and have no bearing on recent figures particularly. What it does mean is that in the past when the PS3 was outselling the 360 it was doing so by a bit more than the numbers shown at the time.
At the end of the day these numbers are estimates and they're pretty damn good for giving us ideas of selling trends and the overall picture. If you want accuracy then only follow shipment numbers, which even then are inaccurate as how each manufacturer counts a unit differs too. True fans of this site accept adjustments as a necessary evil as accuracy is always more important than saving face pretending you're always right.
I cannot be bothered to get the exact figures but what these adjustments have done is mean that when the 360 slim was released the gap was around 4 million not 4.5 million in actual fact and hence the gap is now 5 million and not 5.5 million like it would be without adjustments. Notice that the two figures are 1 million apart meaning current selling trends are unaffected. The sales between the slims release and now have been pretty accurate pending future adjustments.

Actually the adjustments aren't just historical. Check Americas and EMEAA sales from the past few weeks. PS3 has been pretty consistently beating Wii in Americas for about a month. Originally Wii was edging out PS3 by a couple thousand units a week. And PS3 beat 360 and even DS 3 weeks ago (Week after Reach) in EMEAA.

But what happens if the next time the numbers get adjusted the gap between the PS3 and 360 is less than 5 million?

I wouldn't say "bad." But it's human nature to expose the truth to erroneous claims. |
What "Myth" are you referring to? You've completely missed the point in which case makes my post no much more "erroneous" than your assertion.
This has nothing to do with where consoles are being manufactured, and assembled. It has to do with the company they represent. Last time i checked Microsoft was an American company, and Sony - a Japanese one. I have a PS3 - look me up i'm currently playing Uncharted 2 online. Oh and would you look at that, i have a X360 too, and i currently playing Bioshock 1 for some acheivement whoring...wow...
I believe in competition just as much as the next guy, as i do "smart shopping". However that doesn't mean i'm not happy about MY country supporting THEIR company, and their product(s).
