Forums - Gaming - Online/dlc pass will become the norm

EA online pass will become the norm for majority of games soon to combat the Used game problem

If you buy a EA game new you get the code to play online(battlefield its DLC bonus's), but if you buy used or want to play on another PS3/XBL(another account as well) you will have to slug out 10 dollars to play. This is so EA gets 10 dollars from used games which as of now they get nothing.

MS just announced that Fable 3 will do the same thing but with DLC, you get a heap of bonus if you buy new. Doesn't do the same principle as EA but its similar so expect the bonus to hit XBLM soon as well.

And with the Latest "day one DLC" craze going (i say its stupid) i would bet to see that day one DLC be a code you get in your new game or else to buy if used game. I expect a lot of publishers who dont have Online to do that.

As for Activison they are probably thinking of something in there temple of doom so i expect they will do something with the next cod title.

Someone here need a slap in the face, and it isn't neither mchaza neither me.

Above: still the best game of the year.

They should make online modes generally dlc you have to pay for and exclude it from the game...so you only buy the single player first and online modes are extra. So people who never play online modes do not have to pay for it...  and that stupid online trophys would no longer be part of the platinum trophy requirements.

That online Craze is in my opinion one of the worst thing this generation has brought so far...

You are fooling yourself if you belive this would mean  cheaper single player games.

They would charge normal 60$ price and then ask you to pay 10-20 more for online ;)

As for online pass: hmm i don't care at all. If they make stuff i really want I'll buy it new anyway. If i didn't care about ME2 to buy it day 1 I certainly wouldn't care much about their "free" DLC they are bringing for it.

did you watch the escapist show extra credits

they suggested this but that the SP will cost 20 dollars and the only 35 dollars so you are paying 55 dollars. But doubt seeing this happen.

Piracy, I'm coming back!

Yeah, I won't support this. I hate what Gamestop and such do but this is worse. I had got rid of my habit of pirating to an extent where I bought all games I thought I would really want but now it seems I'm going back to my bad old habits.

Better than rip-off DLC but still bad.

I suggested this a long time ago and some user argued with me tooth and nail in opposition of this.  Well look who's laughing, now, guy whose name I don't remember.  Look who's laughing, now!

its not a rip off you are getting it free if you buy New

they are only doing this because stores like Gamestop are selling games at like 55-59 dollars Used and 60 dollars so charging on top an extra 10 dollars to counter this is what they are trying to do. As well that 10 dollars is 100% profit for the publisher.
