They aren't even at the $99 price point yet.

It's scary to think how many units a $99 Wii would move.  Might actually have a shot at beating PS2 then.

The Wii could easily pass the PS2 if it keeps getting strong software support and marketing.

PS2 sales dried up the software support is abysmal and Sony gives it no attention. I'm not saying Sony should keep PS2 a priority, I'm just saying PS2 would still be going strong if it was supported.

PS2 will probably get to 5m shipped easily this year, i would call that pretty strong for a ten year old console. And atleast the PS2 got some software support after PS3 launched, Nintendo's previous consoles didn't fair that well. And seeing how first party dependend the Wii already is isn't helping things either.

Besides PS2 is closing in to 150 million, that's almost twice the amount that Wii currently stands at. No way WIi is ever going to pass it.

Wii will easily get over 100million unless Ninty just ups and stops making it in 2 years or so. Im not so sure it will pass the PS2, but it is still tracking ahead of it.

i thought PS2 was still going strong is some emerging markets, but imo it dosent need to be supported anymore, theres already many, many games for it, and its time in the sun has set. Wii can do 100mil, unless they discontinue it to make way for the Wii 2.

I'm going to out on the limb here and say not only will the pass 100 mil. but it will also pass 120 mil.

Weren't most of the PS2 and GC sales when it priced at $100? Once the Wii reaches that price point sales will be fairly high and steady for a long time.

Apparently, the Wii has been selling so well we won't be seeing the Wii priced at $100 for a very long time.

Yes it will, now the questions is when and how much it could sell at the end--- 2012, 120 mill---> My bet...

Did you guys see the Black Friday week numbers? Man Wii means businnes once again, There's no stoping this console, and Believe me once Zelda comes out (and I'm sure there will be a special wii edition) Collectors, fanboys are going to go bananas.

Nope as Nintendo will replace it in one or two years and they don't have infrustructure to support Wii in developing countries like Sony did with PS2.

In fact i belive that in 5-6 years perspective number of PS3 shipped might be higher than number of Wiis shipped.

it will sell 17 mil this year it it won't get to 100 mil     Paleeze

is this a joke thread?

I think they could clear that number.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

I think the massive holiday/ black Friday sales just recently should prove as a lesson that the Wii is nowhere near done with selling. To not reach 100 million, sales would have to almost COMPLETELY implode after the holiday season. It would practically require NO more games to be released, no future price drops, and a new Nintendo console released prematurely, and even then, it could inch its way there merely on the strength of older titles.

At least 80 million is essentially guaranteed by the end of the holiday. So bascially anyone that doesn't think the Wii will reach 100 million is saying that from January 1st 2011 until, well.. forever, Wii will not be able to sell an additional 20 million units. Even during holiday 2011 alone, it should sell at least 1/4th of that amount. Wii still has more bundles, at least two $50 price drops, Vitality Sensor, and more motion plus software, including the big one, Zelda.

Now, will Wii outsell the PS2? That's an entirely different story. I don't think it will, but it will be closer than most people think. The problem is that Sony has two key advantages with its console that Wii does not have. One is major third party support, and the other being people rebuying PS2s either because of broken ones or the slimline. Wii should easilly outsell the PS1 though, which has sold just over 100 million.

I think lifetime sales of the Wii will be anywhere from 110 million - 130 million depending on when Nintendo decides to release their next console.

If the company really has an agenda to push sales as much as possible, you know what this means? It means I'll eventually have two Wiis; the one I got in 2007 and the Zelda-gold, limited-edition console. 25 years of Zelda!! lol
