Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo doesn't give a 5|-|!t about the Wii

Wii 2 will arrive 2012 at the earliest in order to get a better 3rd party launch lineup. They need to have a very strong launch lineup in order to have a chance at changing their current image in the eyes of gamers with other consoles, same thing that they did with 3DS.

When a system doesn't lead in sales it means that the company doesn't care about it?  Interesting point.

I always knew that the N64 and Gamecube were overpriced paper weights.

Nintendo will get sales up a bit when the price drops. It will be $149-$159 before we know it.

Do you have insider information that suggests work hasn't already begun by third parties? Unless Nintendo has changed its policies, there would be an NDA in place legally preventing 3rd parties to discuss information. Nintendo themselves would have until April next year to discuss a new console launch at their stakeholder meetings for a console launching in the next fiscal year.

Lets just say it:

The Wii has come and almost gone. Despite reasonable sales comparing to the HD twins, Wii sales are trending downwards to epic low levels compared to what the console performed in the past.

Nintendo own software is lackluster to what they gave us in the past.

The console, which is basically a Gamecube on steroids with motion control tacked in, surpassed Nintendo and everyone expectations, hence the shortages for 2 years after release.

Zelda Skyward Sword will be the last hit on the system.

2011 will be all about 3DS, and 2012 will be the year the next Nintendo console arrives.

The Wii will be left with minor Nintendo projects till 2012 and for 3rd parties. Nintendo already had much more revenue from it than they were expecting. Their money is now going for 3DS and Wii 2 R&D.

The PS3 and 360 have trended downwards many many times this generation. This is probably the first noticeable time that the Wii has trended downwards and you think it is doomed?

The Wii software sales are not lackluster so you have a lot of explaining to do as to what you think is lackluster.

The 360 is basically a slightly modified xbox. The PS3 is an upgraded PS2 with blu-ray player tacked on. So what is your point? That the Wii is inferior and hence does not deserve the sales it got?

How many games does Nintendo have in development right now? If you can not answer then how do you know Zelda Skyward Sword will be the last hit?

Yeah 2011 will be about 3DS, but what makes you so sure that Nintendo is going to have the next console ready in 2012? Do you even know the specs for the next console?

Based on previous generations, usually 3rd parties leave Nintendo first in droves.

This thread is just.... stupid.  Wii is still going strong and the new red Wii bundle will jump start some sales. Also, "sports champions" showed up in the charts for all of 2 weeks while Wii Sports Resort is still enjoying 100-200K each week and will continue to do so for a long time.

So it's more like third parties need to start giving a 5|-|!t about the Wii, as Nintendo is fine on it.

Of course, WSR comes packed with every Wii in the West, where it gets 95% of its sales from.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

But before that, it still had legs, unlike Sports Champions.
