that sounds.... pathetic, to be honest.

Basically he is saying that on some very very rare occasions it may "dip" below 60fps... dip? like to 50 or so fps... and thats the reason for the delay?  I'm not buying that at all.

this is Kaz and PD we're talking about, not saying I disagree with you, that would be total bullshit, but wouldn't be surprising if true

Well it could be true. I know for one if I was head of a game team and was working on a game for years on end. I wouldn't set that game out until I was literally finished. Would be such a waste of time to send it out and not live up to your standards as a dev.

Feel bad for the XIV team, got to know someone at SE made them ship it out not ready. WADA!!!

The problem is the Yamauchi san is to much of a perfectionist he wont allow a game to be released before he says it is finished witch double-edged sword on won hand it guarantees quality but on the other hand excessively long development times can harm your sales in the long run.

GT5 needs to just release already. If they can fix the framerate problem (granted it was indeed the problem), then my hats off to them.

Now as for Killzone 3...I'm seriously hoping it hasn't been mainstreamed to reach out completely to the COD "fanbase" (I'd rather say sheep, but I'm not one to generalize).

I'd rather have played GT5 lasy xmas and be playing GT6 with extras next xmas.  The development has been poorly managed imo.

The guy playing the beta sucks something fierce.  That's really hampering the overall quality of the videos.  Other than that, it looks pretty much in-line with Killzone 2; except with better visuals and, IMO, better level design.
