Forums - General - What made you a Studio Ghibli Fan?

There's one thing that they do much better than Pixar and Dreamworks and it is the soundtrack of their movies. So good.

At first, I liked Studio Ghibli. But then I saw Grave of the Fireflies, and I fell in love.

I still prefer Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks but Studio Ghibli is definitely amongst the best.

That's why the idea of a video game coming from them in collaboration with Level 5 (one of the best studio out there) can only get my hyped.

Better than Ghibli?

We don't appreciate yer kind roun' here.

Shrek 2 and Kung Fu Panda are AMAZING and they're better than some Pixar movies like Up and Wall-E.

And I've heard that How to Train Your Dragon is pretty awesome as well.

There's no reason to dislike such a talented and dedicated company.

Gah!

I can't....

I don't understand this.

Haven't really watched Studio Ghibli movies, but lately my daughter has been watching Ponyo on Netflix with my girlfriend.

So if we start going with some Studio Ghibli stuff, Ponyo will be the reason.

I am also interested in the Level-5 game releasing on the PS3, looks ace.

I would recommend seeing,  Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro), Majo no TakkyÅ«bin ( Kiki's Delivery Service), Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi  Spirited Away) next.

NO! GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES!

Yes Grave of the Fireflies is awesome but maybe not the best for younger kids because of it being a story set in the war. and then this one Kaze no Tani no Naushika ( Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind)

Tonari no Totoro is probably my 3rd favorite film ever... and one of the first films I ever saw.

Princess Mononoke was my first Studio Ghibli movie.  I was blown away that something animated could be this powerful (up to this point my only experience with decent anime was FMA).  Honestly, I don't think which one I watched first would have mattered: they all would have had a similar effect.

Contributing with nothing relevant:

Laputa = la puta = the ho in spanish

*giggles*

Thats why in spanish the name is only "They flying castle"

OT: Probably Mononoke-hime, and Miyazaki.

I have!

But Wall-E and Up are just timeless, I say. Along with most Pixar films!
