MS is dumb for making alot of money? Because Kinect is going to sell like hotcakes. We are 5 years into this generation, no exclusive game is going to be a console seller at this point. So you tell me which makes more sense. Advertise your new motion sensing device that is a system seller for a new audience, or spend more money on exclusives which are not system sellers to the same audience. Don't get me wrong I like exclusives, but Kinect is the sensible business option.
Not to mention I'm pretty sure MS is working on the "Nextbox" and I'm sure working on some exclusives for it seeing as its most likely coming out within the next couple years.

I hope MS doesn't go down the route where they won't introduce a thing like that because they think it will take away from the experience of being totally controller free. So in terms of this article i don't think MS have anything to worry about. Everyone who i saw play it really enjoyed it. If you look at all the videos of people playing it you don't really see people complain afterwards. The only people who do are those who are obvious hardcore gamers who compare it to something like Halo or some other hardcore game. WHich is silly as the device is not designed to be for those types of games, the 360 already does that. It however doesn't do casual games well and this is just a device that enables people like your mum to play it and have fun. Review Embargos have been around forever. Any reviewer who complains about it or there being some kind of cover up is obvioulsy being stupid. There are three weeks to go until release, what do they expect to get it 2 months ago? If they think that is how it works then i am surprised they even have a job as a reviewer! |

I just keep asking me how long will last the fun while playing kinect ?
How long will it be before people stop using its dashboard and vocal functions when they realize it's faster/more accurate to do it with the standard controller ?
This is the main problem for MS : Not sure that word of mouth will be what they expect
@sweep thats true but by the time that happens they would have already made their money. I dont think the consumer for this product will be thinking long term like that. That goes for just about any product

Soooo... is this based on the fact you believe retail will use this to attract additional customers due to the massive success of kinect as a loss leader or because you feel it will have bombed so hard.
Lets glance at the sig to see what my crystal ball tells me... I see answered that one.

How can you prove that kinect is the crappy product? Or how can you prove that it isn't a manufacturer promotion? I work at Best Buy and Microsoft, Sony, tons of companies will actually give us credit based on how much of the product we sold. They actually organize the sell, Best Buy doesn't. So how is a holiday promotion going to prove anything?

Good point or worse still the 360 slim was launched and the next day on sale.

I had some friends who went to one of those kinect showings to play some of those kinect games. They all told me that aside from dance central which they seid was really fun every other game was a joke. They told me about how kinect adventures had all sorts of slowdown problems and was unresponsive, that kinect sports game they seid it was boring and the worst game they played at the showing.
