Great marketing push for Kinect. I expected nothing less from Microsoft. Time for America to support their own. I love it.

Of course you do realise that is a totally generalised sweeping statement that is almost certainly wrong. What makes you think they did not jump straight onto Amazon and pre-order it, I mean how hard is that.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.| DirtyP2002 said: Oprah Does It Again: Xbox 360 With Kinect For The Audience Wolfgang Gruener in Products on October 19
Yes, you should have been in the audience of Oprah today. Following the somewhat surprising news that Microsoft somehow convinced Oprah to showcase its Kinect controller technology on national TV, the audience was told it could take home an Xbox 360 including Kinect. It’s not a car, but hey, it’s not that bad either. Yesterday, Microsoft said that Kinect will be available for sale on November 4 and feature 17 launch titles. Oprah has been, quite apparently, part of the launch pitch and Microsoft said that Ellen DeGeneres will be showcasing the device later this month on her talkshow as well. You could wonder why Microsoft has chosen those two shows, but then we also know that Kinect is not about hardcore gaming, but is a device that attempts to build on Nintendo’s Wii controller and Nintendo’s customer base. Earlier this year, we heard that Microsoft may be trying to steal users from the Wii by offering a perceived upgrade to the Wii controller and it appears that Microsoft is, in fact, giving this idea a shot. Amazon currently lists Kinect at position #10 in its bestsellers ranking. Sony’s PS3 Move starter bundle is listed at #20. Kinect will be priced at $150 as a standalone device, while the bundle, including a 4 GB Xbox 360 and the Kinect, will be priced at $300.

Absolutely brilliant marketing ploy by Microsoft. Microsoft may not have won the hardware or software numbers this generation, but they sure won in the advertising department.
Talk about speaking to the "blue ocean," Microsoft hit a grand slam by allowing Oprah to give away Kinect to a demographic most would never associate with gaming whatsoever.
Kinect and the kinect xbox360 hardware bundles are skyrocketting in amazon and eb games/gamestop charts. The November and December NPDs will be glorious !!

not doubting that kinect isn't something worth having, but I think that crowd was a little over the top, it was like when oprah gave everyone a free car!!! lol

Sorry, Blue Ocean is the non competition ocean. When MS and Sony started developing "retard" gaming devices they turned it a Red Ocean.
I agree though. It was a good idea to artificially create this wave. Unlike Oprah maybe doing it herself.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
Well played, MS.
hopefully they have enough hardware stocked up to meet demand.
Oprah is huge (figuratively and literally)

If there was any doubt before, squash it. Oprah? Ellen? Kinect is now HUGE.
That video was actually the most hilarious thing I have ever seen.
Did she even show them what Kinect was? How the hell do they know about it? I would expect them to go that crazy over a new TV, or a car, or knowing Oprah's audience, a new designer kitchen, but Kinect? (interestingly, if you add an 'H' to Kinect, and re-arrange the letters, you get "kitchen").
Almost certainly acted. But well played, Microsoft, well played. Slightly less than honest, but brutally fantastic marketing. Explains the $500 million - Oprah doesn't come cheap.
