I wonder how much money Nintendo has made from this game? Most likely more than a Billion dollars.

NOTE: none of these calculations are accurate as 1) I'm estimating a lot of things 2) I'm only taking into account US prices for WW sales

MKWii has generated somewhere in the realm of US$1.15B in revenues. Assuming Nintendo pockets $35/game (that seems generous enough after ~$10 for the retailer and ~$5 for shipping and materials), they would have generated ~US$807M. They probably invested less than US$10m into the game (advertising included).

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

I actually remember saying right before it launched that Mario Kart Wii would be the best selling Wii game ever aside from the bundled ones (Play and Sports). Finally, a prediction I (most likely) got right!

Only because they chose to slightly upgrade Wii Fit ;)

I'm not going to deny that, I never believed Wii Fit would sell as much as it has. Not even close.

And even scarier, people did not buy WiiFit for the Balance Board but bought the Balance Board for WiiFit....

@rainbow yoshi  maybe but something about having 2 people on one kart just spoke to me, thats the main reason why i skipped MKWii i liked that mechanic in DD I thought it added more depth. but thats just me, I usually like the Ninty games that people dont and not like the ones that people do(Metroid Primes,. etc)

I agree with you, Mario Kart: DD is the best Mario Kart ever!!

It was just sooooooo funnnnn, tbh, I found MKWii multiplayer quite lacking compared to DD, and I dissagree with you Rainbow, MK DD had much more single player depht than MKwii (or any MK)

For some reason Mario Kart Wii is my favourite, I only play Mario Kart Double Dash in All Cup Tour because it is boring in everything else. Finishing slightly ahead/behind after 16 exhilarating races is the highlight of the game, I tend to finish with 140~ points

I wonder how many copies has mario kart series have sold throughout Its entire existence

MKWii reminds me the ol' good days when I played MK64. I play this with my friends. ^_^

What I like from MK DD was the cup where you play the 16 tracks.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

What I find most impressive about mkwii sales is that even if you combine mw2 sales it does not top it, and mw2 sales will drop after blacck ops releases but mkwii will continue to sell a lot. It is one of the games that almost anyone who buys a wii get.
