Sorry but why the F**K would they?? seriously? they make more money then what Sony, MS, S-E, Capcom five more top developers do put thogether.....hell they even earned more money then Sony did while selling 20 millions gamecubes and Sony 120 million PS2's

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

They did Nintendo was more profitable then Sony during the PS2 era despite Sony's high PS2 sales. But whether that came from just the sale of GCN hardware is another question. Keep in mind Nintendo software on the GCN also sold pretty dang well and the GBA and its software also sold pretty well.

Nintendo is one of the most profitable companies in the world, the most profitable in Japan and the only console manufacturer to make a profit on every console sold since day of release. If any console manufacturer would be better going 3rd party it would be SONY, their franchises would light up the sales charts on the 360 and they wouldn't have to contend with making billion dollar loses every year due to their hardware.

i think SONY has done find considering they have sold like near 300 million console units which is more than all of nintendo and Microsofts Consoles (not handhelds combined) and around half of all consoles sold.

This generation SONY has made massive losses, each year they've been losing over a billion dollars. I can provide references if you wish. A company or division can sustain short run losses, but over the longterm they must become profitable or they will eventually close. SONY has had to heavily subsidise its gaming division this generation. We are talking the current state of play aren't we?

No one is denying the success of PS1 or PS2, but they are in the past. What's more, when Nintendo wasn't faring so well, back in the Gamecube days, they were still making huge profits.

Also, I like the way you decided not to include the handheld market in this, as otherwise Nintendo would have won the numbers game too.

Yah you can't exactly ignore the handheld market. I think the GameBoy line alone beat PS2, then throw in the DS and you've pretty much beat PSOne and PS2 combined. Then if you throw in those home consoles Nintendo has beaten the crap out of Sony.

No, becasue their systems are awesomzorg.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Let's consider this Nintendo VS Sony thing in a different way...

it would be better to have Mario on HD graphics and jumping like this?

Or it would be better to have Crash Bandicoot, Jak, Ratchet, Kratos and drake playing like this?

Justice has prevailed in this thread.  A few people were drunk and chose the wrong answer, though.  Everything I wanted to say has beens said.

The question was NOT "what would you prefer/like" (which is probably what the few who said "yes" answered to), but would Nintendo be better off, and to that, whether one is a Nintendo fan or not, the answer is a clear NO.

As already mentioned before countless times, they have been very profitable on hardware even when they were very very far from being the generation "winners" (Gamecube), why should they stop...

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Stupid question, because as hardware manufacturer, nintendo hardware is tailored to make run the games nintendo developers had in mind and that the current hardware can't.

That's their specification, they built the hardware around the games, as the opposite of other company that first built the hardware and then think of the games

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.
