why pay for a dog when there are so many homeless ones?

I have money for 3DS, but I'm tempted to buy this... | |||

| 3DS, you already have a dog dude. | 36 | 35.64% | |

I don't even think its debatable. An electronic gadget vs a living creature. I'm not even a dog person but even I know what will happen when you get the 3DS: You'll play the games, you'll be impressed by the hardware, the luster will dull, and it will eventually become another piece of hardware to play when you're bored.
As for the dog, it's a companion. It'll develop little quirks and somewhat of a personality. It'll never betray you and there's a good chance it will lick your face.
The x-factor is that you already have a dog. But I say go with the dog. The 3DS can wait. It's just a game. Besides, by the time the 3DS comes out, I'm sure you'll be able to save another $350.
normally i'd say a pet will bring you a lot more happiness than a video game but you already have a dog so maybe that doesn't apply in this case.
here is a question; if you money is tight enough that $350 is an either one or the other (but not both) scenario can you afford to buy a dog? I mean, even after the initial purchase dogs can be quite expensive with food/shots/licensing/vets/ect.

I already replied above that shots and vet wouldn't be a problem because I have a vet friend. Licensing isn't that expensive either.
Nonetheless, I decided to keep my money and save it for 3DS. I'll save a up money again and get the puppy on late summer/Autumn 2011, depending on the breeders...
I decided this way because the later I get the dog, the better. My current dog is still relatively young (3 years) and I don't wanna have 2 pets dying almost in the same period. When my current dog passes out at age 13(?) I wanna still have the border collie for more 4 or 5 years.

Well for instance, 350 bucks would be enough to feed a somali family for 1 month.
Screw the dog. If you buy a 3DS you can get Nintendogs Cats and have both a dog and a cat!
