Forums - Sales - Italy: Playstation Move flies on the market (100k shipped, 60k sold)

A little less than a month after its launch, Move, the new device consists of cameras and joystick-shaped microphone that converts into a Playstation 3 Wii more precise and more powerful - has sold more than 1.5 million pieces.

Sixty thousand only in Italy, in practice for 60% of the stores. "I'm really good news - says Andrew House President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe - by the end of the fiscal year (March 2011 ed) we expect a PS3 out of five in the world will have its own motion controller.

If the prediction had come true in Italy would sell 220 thousand PlayStation Move. A result that warms the atmosphere ahead of Christmas entertainment.

For Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 are the first skirmishes since December is likely to be very crucial for the big names of electronic. Never before Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have focused heavily on the renewal of gaming machine. In November - exactly 10 - will be the turn of Kinect, the Xbox 360 gaming system that detects motion of the body with a camera in 3D rendering unnecessary the use of joystick, joypad, controller, or any type of physical object used as a control objects on a screen.

Nintendo instead you lose Christmas, in terms of new hardware: the handheld 3DS promising effects in three dimensions without the aid of spectacles will be released in stores in March next year. Home Kyoto remains the consolation of being first came to perceive a more casual gaming through the Wii and its games that use motion sensors. Size that Microsoft and Sony could recover Kinect and Move. "A closer look - look at the number one European Playstation - for PS3 as a gaming machine, the motion sensor and the camera is also well suited to a variety of games designed for a more demanding. In our case, I think titles like Killzone 2 and Resident Evil. The 3D Move is offering them an unprecedented gaming experience. "

60K sold it's cool for Italy. I think that in Spain move sold similar.

After an initial awful lack of advertising, Sony marketing for Move suddenly bettered a lot. Still a little late, but we are Sony land... I guess, though, that with better marketing since the start it could have sold even better.

It wasn't late, I'm pretty sure Sony was expecting to ramp it up AFTER release, going along with their whole slow burner thing.

so if only in Italy Sony have sold 60k than i think in Europe move should have moved above 500k units easily..

60k sold in Italy and the starter pack alone sold more than Halo Reach in Spain in September.

Between those two countries alone I bet total move sales are close to 150k.

Yep, I was considering this hypothesis, but ads before and around launch were so scarce that, except stores leaflets, I started seeing them on TV the week AFTER. Ramping up marketing can be a legit strategy, but this way it looked to me like a little bit excessive.

I love that photo.

According to reports, Move has shipped 1.5 million units in Europe, which is absolutely amazing.

Here in Hong Kong, Move seems to be pretty much sold out almost everywhere.  A reliable source told me that 80% of stock in the territory has been sold, and they're waiting for new stock.  I don't know exact figures, but Move seems to have exceeded expectations in both Asia and Europe.

What's up with the US then?  You guys still waiting for that Xbox camera?
