It's not Pachter's personal opinion, what he is saying is that Move hardware sold below industry projections / expectations.

In Italy Sony Italia shipped 100.000 PSMove, and 60.000 are selled to customers in the first month from launch.

Yeah but your poll is reading as though Pachter is personally saying that in his opinion Move didn't do well. He's not, he is saying that a bunch of firms made projections for their various clients (investors mainly) as to how well Move will perform and according to NPD it didn't do as well as expected. It is just a factual statement that he is making.

Now, whether the various analysis firms had inflated expectations is another issue, but "who'd be dumb enough to swallow this crock" isn't really a fair thing to be aiming at Pachter.

PS3's Move Sold 'Well Below Expectations,' says Pachter

Yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment America (Darth's Edit -- should say Europe here not america) told us that the PlayStation Move "is performing extremely well at retail," although the company seemed reluctant to actually provide hard data to back up this statement. After all, if the product is selling so well, why not give us the sales information? In Europe, Sony revealed that Move sold around 1.5 million units.

In North America, however, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes that Move really did not fare as well as Sony would have liked. Despite the suspected slow start, Pachter still thinks that Move, and Microsoft's Kinect, will have a notable impact on industry sales this holiday season. "Even though we believe Move sold well below expectations in its first month, we expect it, along with the Kinect (launching November 4), to drive hardware sales at holiday," he said. 

The launch of PlayStation Move did not seem to noticeably lift the fortunes of Sony's PS3 either; Pachter revealed that the PS3 sold 312,000 units in September, which represents a 37% decline year-over-year.

Hey at least he STILL expects it to DRIVE PS3 sales in the holiday!

I wish you would put an option in your polls that reflected quite a lot of people on here's view points. Mine is "I expected it to sell this poorly". It almost seems like you never have an honest opinion option, hm...

You wouldn't, these things aren't made public. Every major product will have industry projections - this is how companies know what to forecast for financial earnings and so on.

Is this estimate based on the YoY decrease?

Last year in September didn't we have PS3 Slim launch as well as the $100 price cut?

Anyways, just like any Move prediction, nothing is known until SONY says something.
