Forums - Microsoft - Forza 4 (With Kinect Steering)

The kinect controls look pretty good actually, and as the guy in the comments pointed out when he ducked down so did the camera. The graphics have also been improved, I'm sure it will look and play even better when it is released Oct. 2011.

One question -

How was he accelerating/braking?

To me, that video made it seem like the game did the acceleration and braking for you...

Yeah, the controls still look awful though.  This would be much better if they offered actual steering wheel controls (like from a logitech steering wheel or something) with Kinect camera integration.

How many times did he miss his mark and slam into the back of a car?  He's a games editor at ign, he can't be that bad at video games.

I've always had the same question.  I think it's done by how far you hold your hands apart.

Dunno, but there are a few way to implement that, they could do it like the old burnout demo, where you move your foot forward to accelerate, and back to deccelerate/stop, or they could do a modified Joyride where you push your hands out to accelerate, and pull them back to deccelerate/stop.

LOL, also this is early footage, nowhere near finished. Finally you can use a steering wheel just like all forza games before it. and you will probably get headtracking with that too.

What really bugs me about this is the video description. It says it increases the immersion. Only in a game about mimes.

This is my sig.

If you watch the video though his hands don't really move in conjunction with the varying speeds.

And it doesn't look like he's moving himself around that much either so it doesn't look like he's doing it with his legs/feet.

Interesting...

Once you play kinect you will know that what he said is true, when you really get into it you do get immersed.

Well he never stopped moving so it probably was the leg thing, just look at the burnout demo, all you have to do is put your foot forward and steer.

Wait!!!!!!!!!!

The car is going right when he steers to the left!!!

Am I wrong here?  Is it a mirror effect?
