He prolly played his latest Castlevania game and is pissed at himself for making a beautiful boring game...

the new castlevania is awesome actually.

For a god of war fan, sure. It was pretty "yawn" to me...Nothing I like about Castlevania series was present.  Demons Souls is a better 3D castlevania game than Kojimas Castlevania.

You really are a yawn fest, you know that?  You keep shoving this up our throats in every single thread you can. Even though you admitted you didn't play shit of it.

And of course 1: this thread also has absolutely nothing to do with Castlevania.  2: Kojima wasn't a producer, director or game designer for Castlevania.  He acted as nothing more than an advisor. ¬_¬

You can't seem to realize that its a free forum...I get to express what I like and dislike, as many times as I want. Excuse me for not choosing to be bored for 20 hours so I could finish the game. If a CAstlevania game doesn't satisfy someone that has played and liked pretty much every casltevania game ever made (except n64 ones) I think there is a problem at hand.

Besides how do you know his comment isn't directed at caslevania wise guy?

And how do you know it is directed at it?  The interview doesn't make any mention of Castlevania whatsoever.  So there's your hint.

Nope, you just chose to have yet an other unreasonable jab at a game you didn't even play.

As far as the interview is concerned, I don't think the problem lies in how to approach the rendition of the game's look.  It has more to do with how those character archetypes look like.  More often than not, Japanese heroes are effeminate males, or some generic anime style characters that all look the same.  I know there's a market for that kind of "look", but most people prefer something a little more unique, or at the very least, bad ass.  That's from my personal observation at least, not my own personal taste (although I'm a bit sick of the effiminate anime looking characters found in JRPGs).

Well Castlevania 3D is hard to really show things present that are awesome in 2D.....(but I have yet to play the game....)

No one said it would be easy. :) The last few PS2 Castlevanias were close to capturing the classic feel...

Besides, with the 2D renaissance that is happening right now means that door is wide open for a full blown castlevania HD in 2D. I would be the happiest man alive if they announced a new one or decided to port any of the GBA/DS castlevanias to an hd console.

they were mediocre at best! , IMO.

Well Lords of shadow does look much better, sound much better and cost probably 10 times as much to make. But take the flash and expensive production away and you are left with a game that is just as mediocre in gameplay.

Worst of all, it has nothing to do with Calstevania universe or any previous games, nor is the gameplay associated with the franchise. Titan fight in Castlevania? Really?

They should have made a full blown horror game, if they really wanted to make a "seriouz" castlevania game...otherwise they should have left the series doing what it does best. Parodying the B grade horror movies from the 40s and 50s with kickass combat, platforming and lots of over the top dialoge and music.

In any case...lets not go deeper in to the castlevania here and lets discuss the vauge comments that mrj Kojima made.

Hey they could have been trying to recapture the classic feel of Castlevania II (it was bad if you never played it)

OT: Kojima is just wrong the best looking games both from the west and east are a mix of great art direction and a great world with nice effects. Look at Final Fantasy SNES, PS1 and PS2 era, open maps, nice lighting and effects (not SNES of course), and just a living world.  Uncharted 2 nice effects the world looks alive but boy do those hand drawn and artistic textures/models make the game look head and shoulders better than most games this gen.

If my PS3 wasn't frozen on 3.41 firmware, I'd love to show you how far I played...I played plenty to realize the game isn't fun for Castlevania fans.

People that like button mashing combat games with same set pieces can go nuts...

Keep following me aorund the boards, I will be bitching about how the game sucks for many months to come.

Oh I'm not following you around.  As difficult as it may be for you to realize this, the world doesn't revolve around you.  Don't give yourself so much credit, you're not worth much to me. ^_-

So now you talk in the name of all Castlevania fans.  I'm one such fans, played just about every single game in the series and strangely enough I liked Lords of Shadow just a tiny bit less than Symphony of the Night but more than Casltevania IV, my 2 favorite "classic" games in the franchise.   You may talk for yourself, but you certainly need to shut up when it comes to other fans of the series.  You're certainly not an authority on the matter.

Kojima did not crate Caslevania LOS he only helped with some advaice.

Japanese Pop Culture Otaku

I have absolutely no clue what Kojima is rambling on about; plus he's the de facto guy who lacks substance what with the metric tons of redundant dialog and cutscene set pieces that take away from the game instead of adding to it.

Hey disolitude. Cheer up mate. Read this: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/10/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-feels-like-homework-not-a-game.ars :P
