That's a fairly common usage around here, but it's about like thinking "AD" stands for "After Death" instead of "Anno Domini".

makes sense, life being when it first releases, death meaning when it stops selling. There is NO need to over complicate everything.

Point taken. I believe I always use LT and LTD where appropriate but I may slip-up sometimes.

LTD can also mean life to death and in this context thats what people mean. Get over it...

 I've always thought going by lifetime sales of an item is a bad target since such a time is not easy to determined and can be disagreed upon. To make it more objective, clear time frames should be chosen, ex) for the first 12 months on market, or so on.
