Forums - Sales - Just Dance 2 sales predictions and bets

Just Dance 2 launches tomorrow in the US and on Friday in Europe. This thread is for any predictions or bets people wish to make.

For reference, sales of the original: http://www.vgchartz.com/game.php?id=40053

What people predicted some time after launch last year: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=98375

My personal predictions: it will exceed sales of the original and sell at least 500K in it's first week.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Sounds good... probably around 600k first week, 4 million lifetime.

I can't see it outselling the original in the UK, since it was already so big (and a sequel seems redundant), but I'm not sure if it reached its full potential in other regions. We'll see

why bets? leave my sig and avatar alone!

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Redundant? I don't think so at all, being a dance game means that the content is the music, and that means it can be expanded upon very easily. IMO, this is the reason Guitar Hero was able to grow with each sequel until a peak of 12 million with GH3.

It might be the exception to this but look at Ubisoft track record with Wii sequels to popular games on the system.

Red Steel: 1.2 million             Red Steel 2: 0.31 million

Shaun White Snowboarding Road Trip: 1.5 million          World Stage: 0.13 million

No More Heroes: 0.48 million            No More Heroes 2: 0.18 million

Well, Guitar Hero did have the whole guitar thing for it, though. The people who bought the first game (along with the Guitar) can use their guitar for the next game. (okay, I have no clue how that affected sales)

Still, its popularity in the UK was so huge, it's hard to see it going anywhere but down. Also, JD2 still competes with the original for new buyers, so the game needs some nice improvements or a better track list...

I'd probably revise to 5 million, though, since (after looking) it does seem they did the latter - more tracks, new modes

It'll be big in the US and UK.

Others, meh.

Im guessin the michael jackson version will eat some of its sales too... 5 mil LTD!

I predict

1. 250-300 week 1

2. Everyone say but it will have legs...

3. 150k week 2

4. everyone says it has legs

5. continues to fall until late november

6. everyone says it has legs

7. it will eventually sell less than half of the original life time total.

So far so good...
