Forums - Microsoft - How FAST will HALO Reach topple Halo 3 ?!

Ok Halo Fans.. How fast Will REACH surpass Halo 3?

Here's some numbers:

First week sales Reach was around 4 million units -versus- 3.7 million units of Halo 3 ( To me this is the hardcore fans who would rather play the game then have food to eat, and it appears they picked up a few hardcores )

In THREE short weeks Halo Reach has already sold 5.2 MILLION units.. big deal huh ? Actually, YES .. It took Halo 3 ( released Sept 27, 2007 ) alittle over EIGHT weeks to hit the 5 million mark..( accomplished November 30, 2007)

It took Halo 3 TWO years to sell 10 million units.. ( Its sold alittle over 11 million so far )

Will Halo Reach be able to sell 10 million units in ONE year?  Its possible and lets not forget there nearly 400% more Xbox 360 owners NOW (Oct 2010) then there was back in Sept of 2007 - Which makes it even more possible!

It did NOT take Halo 3 eight weeks to reach 5 million. It did it in four. At week three it was at 4.925 million, so Reach is only beating it by 400k at this point.

imo, Reach will never pass Halo 3.

It took Halo 3 4 weeks to cross 5 million.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Hmmm... really depends if sales pick up in Japan.

I think it could hit 10 million in a year. It should be at 7 - 8 million at the end of this year.

It's selling on par or slighly better than Halo 3, with the holidays coming up. it should do really well.

Show me where it took 4 weeks for Halo 3 to hit 4.9  Million ?  In 2007 there were on 12 million Xbox 360 owners and let me quote Wikipedia:

(Halo 3 Launched Sept 27, 2007) ..."In the U.S., Halo 3 sold 3.3 million copies in its first 12 days on sale,[79] increasing to 3.7 million copies by November 15, 2007.[80] Reuters UK estimated that Halo 3 may have sold up to 5.2 million copies worldwide in the first two weeks after launch.[6] (BUT)  By November 30, 2007 ( EIGHT WEEKS), Halo 3 had sold 5 million copies worldwide, and as of that point,  was the best-selling video game of 2007 in the U.S., even though the game is only available on one console."

And after you show the hard figure that Halo 3 sold 5 million in 4 weeks ( not estimates that were later proven wrong ) ..

If Halo Reach will never pass Halo 3, how come it is now ? I guess your reasoning is somehow people will just stop buying it to please your honest opinion huh? :)    A lot said it would never surpass its first week sales, and even if Halo 3 did hit 5 million in for weeks - Reach did it in THREE

Vgchartz begs to differ.

It depends IMO on when Nextbox is released, if nezt year IMO it wont pass it, if not then it has a good shot at passing it late next year or early 2012
