Forums - Gaming - Sega pulls crappy Sonic games!

Oh shit... they're actually letting reviewers decide what games they keep on shelves?  That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  If every company did that, I wouldn't be able to buy half my favorite games.

You're right, this is dumb...

On second thought, this is actually scary.  This sets a bad precedent.

Reviews aren't just the problem. Sales have been on a downward spiral.

If a Sonic game is shit, people are less likely to buy future releases.

I'm not sure what pulling old games will accomplish. But I understand why they want to sweep them under the rug.

Exactly, however I gotta say the damage has already been done. I guess they are thinking of the new consumers who aren't familiar with Sonic. Say a new Wii owner buys a Wii and wants a Sonic game, they see Black Knight for sale at 14.99$ or Colours at 59.99$ they would probubly choose Black Knight. Then they hate Black Knight and decide to pass on future Sonic titles.

I think thats what Sega is trying to prevent. They want Sonic restored to the AAA IP it used to be known as. Forgetting all of the under achievers is in Sega's best interest.

Its a bit too late now, the damage has been done, they should just focus on the feedback they've got from those games and refine the way they design new games, Sonic has lost his lustre over the years, but they cant get it back by pretending those years didnt happen. imo things went wrong when they started going to anime teritory.

This is a good strategy.

Sega probably recieves nothing much off  of sonic titles sold for 5-10£

THough bigger titles like unlished and popular titles like the DS ones should probably be kept, there are many sonic games ruining the image... perhaps better screening before release and subsequently better previsions of sales numbers would be a much better strategy though... though it is harder to put in place.

Sounds strange I think. Instead of scrapping some of the older Sonic games to make the new ones look good, the new ones should be good enough to stand on their own. And I think the damage is already done to Sonic's image. It's way to late for this...

Plus, Sonic games do sell well despite the reviews.
