Forums - PC - 3D Will Bring on the Rebirth of PC Gaming !

I don't think its going to rejuvinate gaming much as its still expensive but for the people that want to go 3D...its totally the way to go.

Decent 3D gaming PC = 1000 bucks

3D projector and a 100 inch high reflective screen = 1000 bucks

3D vision glasses = 200 bucks

2200 dollars for a 100 inch theater screen and a PC which plays 3d blurays, 3D games and lets you do cool stuff in 3d like 3d google earth and 3D picture publishing.

But a 3D bluray/ps3 and a 50 inch 3D screen and you will spend more. Not to mention that there are 5 games and 3 movies to watch at the moment with that setup...

That's if you want to splurge and go for the "Uber" experience. But if you'd go for the "normal" PC gaming experience, then we're talking abouta decent 3d gaming computer,a 22 inch or so 3D screen, and one pair of 3d glasses (btw if I had to buy a 3d TV I'd have to buy 5 pairs of glasses, for the entire family).

But that is not even the normal case. Almost everybody has a PC, and lots of people already have a PC that just needs a graphics card update (maybe), maybe a little bit more memory, a 3d 22 inch monitor (around $350) and the glasses. This would set you back far far less.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Anyway you cut it, you need a 1000 dollar PC minimum. PSU needs to be 700 watts, GPU is going to be $300 minimum, 150-200 dollar cpu, lots of ram, SLI mobo... You can't just "upgrade" your mom and dads computer to run 3D.

3D gaming on the Pc has been around since 1990s...and it barely has 1% of the gamer marketshare today. ITs still a niche entertainment form...

Though 3d via PC is much cheaper, it's still too complicated for the average console gamer.

OK, but now between the 3DS, Sony pushing 3D in people's face and all these new 3D enabled games, more people will want to join the bandwagon, get scared of the price tag, and then maybe suddenly re-notice their PC. And my bet is that in a year, the prices you quoted for the PC will be close to half, as will be the price of the 3D monitor.

@Ldn.se

3 movies you can currently buy are

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Monster House

and Clash of the Titans

Everything else is "bundled" with TVs or coming out later.

Otherwise 1200 british pounds is about 2000 Us dollars.

So I am correct on both fronts.

No you are not.

£1200 is apprx $1800. You said it would cost much more with the console. There are more movies available but maybe you checked only amazon.com?

Rebirth? Doesn't that suggest a death somewhere? I don't think PC gaming ever died.

Anyway, no. As awesome as 3D is the costs of a decent graphics card and the PC setup will hold it back some. Maybe in a couple of years, but I don't think many except the enthusiasts will bother. Plus, the primary 3D setup being pushed on PC is limited to Nvidia. You won't have it become big if it's tied to a single manufacturer.

haha...you are really making a stand over 200 dollars here? Sorry I didn't look up a conversion calculator like you...

Otherwise show me movies on amazon you can buy other than those 3, and that  they are not bundled with glasses and cost 300 dollar...

The funny thing is I've already seen Alice in Wonderland, Coroline, Ice age 3, Monsters Vs Aliens and cloudy meatballs using my computer and a 3D projector. A person with a 3d tv/bluray player setup would have to spend 1000 bucks to get all those as they come with glasses (other than cloudy with a chance of meatballs)

Lol each to their own
