Take into account that that's all being done on the Eye Toy and on the PS2, I'm sure the PS Eye and PS3 can do much better. It's obvious that the Kinect is a better camera, the guy you replied to never said it wasn't. His just saying that those types of games aren't exactly great and can probably be done on other hardware because it doesn't actually take advantage of the hardware it's currently using.

It also doesn't help that a few of the games that you mentioned have had really bad previews.

Oh boy... this discussion is happening again.

The Kinect actually makes a skeleton of the body and can transfer the exact movement to a 3D model.

These Eyetoy games bascially just sense where motion is happening.

Move games start at $40. Kinect games start at $50. Do you guys see the price of games affecting the sales of either of these?

Nope.

If the Kinect games are more appealing people will gladly drop the extra $10.

Move required games so far have been lame. The only one that seems worth playing is free with the bundle.

As opposed to the 0 kinect only games worth playing

After trying out a number of games, I'm getting at launch:

Dance Central, Your Shape, Kinectimals, Kinect Sports (and Kinect Adventures although it's bundled anyway).  Ones that I didn't try but am interested in are EA Sports Active 2 (have the Wii version of the first one and although it was good I never used it because I hated have to strap the damn controllers to various parts of my body all the time), Motion Sports, Sonic Free Riders and possibly the Brunswick bowling game pending reviews.

Very excited for Child of Eden and Project Draco next year.

Move launched with titles similar to those(some actually on it), and not well received, in short, you'd probably like alot of the crappy move games too

Can you point me to the Move versions of Your Shape and Dance Central?  EA Sports Active 2 that doesn't require a controller and can track things like push-ups?   Where is the Move skiing game that tracks your body downhill?

I must have missed those.

You can pretend that experience of twisting your arms is the same as controlling a gaming with your whole body but it's simply not true.

the move has the PS EYE and you can play those type of games without the move controller

Great!  Point me to those games please.

It's interesting though that the PS3 version of EA Sports Active 2 doesn't include all the features of the Kinect version.

"Where Kinect’s uniqueness comes in is with its “Total Body Tracking” system: because the camera has the ability to follow your skeleton, it can analyze your exercises and provide feedback. I watched Recio do a few half-hearted leg lifts, and the game quickly pointed out that he need to lift his leg higher if he wanted to get credit for a rep. Lazy folks might have been able to “cheat” the original EA Sports Active on the Wii, but that’s going to be much more difficult when the all-seeing eyes of Kinect are watching your every move. "

Why did they not include it in the PS3 version, since, as you say, it can do all the same stuff?  Someone should show them how the Eyetoy works I guess.

Video 1 - All it's tracking is where his hands and feet end up on a 2D plane, it's not tracking his body.  All that martial arts he's doing is just for show, you could do the same thing without all the fancy stuff.

Video 2 - Same thing and hey look!  Developed by Hamonix, the EXACT same devs who said they've wanted to do a dance game for 5 years but the tech didn't EXIST to be able to do it how they wanted, I guess they don't know about all the stuff the Eyetoy can really do even though they made a game for it.

Video 3 - is the same video as video 1

Video 4 - Same thing, just tracking where you hands end up on the screen.  Do people REALLY not understand what body skeletal tracking is?   What information do you need to understand it?

Which games have had really bad previews?  I mentioned the ones I tried myself and I enjoyed them.

The bad previews point: Child of Eden, Kinectimals, Sonic Free Riders and Kinect Adventures. Judging from the articles I've read and the podcasts I've listened to, they all seem to be the bad apples of the bunch. They love Dance Central though.

How are they the same?  I guess thats what I'm missing.  Because they use body motion to affect things on screen?  In that sense every game played with a controller is the same.  Is is the genre that is similar?  Because he was attacking things with his body then any game that uses a body is the same and should be downplayed constantly?

Why do people go gaga over Uncharted 2?  It's basically just Tomb Raider.

Why even buy a PS3 at all?  The games are basically the same as the PS2, right?   Press buttons on controller, waggle your thumb and stuff happens on the screen.  Waste of $300 bucks to do that on a PS3.  Just like that DVD rip off Blu-ray.  Worthless.

None of the games you showed me are the same experience as I had playing Kinect.  I wasn't flinging my arms around hitting points on a screen, I was controlling my entire character and the in game camera with what I was doing and which way I was facing.

I've read a lot of previews on Child of Eden and all but one (Destructoid) said the best experience was playing it on Kinect.  That the game was more immersive (albiet less precise) playing it that way.

I had a blast playing Kinectimals and I'm certainly not the target audience, my girlfriend's 7 year old is going to flip over that game.

Haven't heard much of Sonic Free Riders but I've watched a number of people playing it and it seemed like it could be fun, but I'm holding off on that until reviews are in.   Kinect Adventures was fun for a party but I wouldn't play it all the time.  If it didn't come with the unit I wouldn't buy it but I'll bet the kids will be playing it quite a bit.

Overreaction much?

If your going that way with your argument, then I'll stop it here. It's also hard to take your Kinect impressions seriously, your history of 360 bias kind of dirty's them a little, especially when more professional means of media that I can trust haven't been so kind to the device. Don't take it as an insult, it's just my view on things. I don't trust all this motion control stuff, it brings out the worse in people sometimes and until Kinect or Move actually does anything innovative, useful or at least exciting for the industry, then I'll stay sceptical.

OT: No the prices won't do anything to convince the consumer, it's a mixture of the marketing and the quality of the games that will convince the consumer to spend.

Typical, don't have a good response so attack my character and impugn my judgement.  Obviously I'm not professional enough to have an opinion on games.

I didn't attack your character, I just have to take your impressions with a grain of salt due to your history. I'd expect people to do the same with me if they had to. I made an argument and you went into hyperbole mode, I don't feel like adding an extra four pages to this thread, when both my opinion and yours won't be changed by the end of it.
